How to Use CSAB 2025 Cutoffs for 2026 Planning

CSAB cutoffs change every year based on: number of candidates registered, JoSAA outcomes, and demand for specific institutes. However, the year-on-year variation is typically small (5–15%).

How to Estimate Your Chances for CSAB 2026

  1. Find the 2025 closing rank for your target institute/branch above
  2. Add a safety buffer of 10–20% higher rank number (e.g., if 2025 closing was 45,000, consider yourself safe if your rank is under 40,000)
  3. Check if you qualify for Home State quota (significantly better cutoffs for HS candidates at NE NITs)
  4. For GFTIs, cutoffs are generally very relaxed — even ranks above 1,00,000 may get seats in many GFTIs

Frequently Asked Questions – CSAB 2025 Cutoff Ranks

Common questions about CSAB 2025 opening and closing ranks for NITs and GFTIs

1
What was the CSAB 2025 cutoff for NIT Meghalaya CSE?
Based on CSAB 2025 Special Round 1, NIT Meghalaya CSE General (Other State) closed approximately in the rank range of 28,000–45,000 CRL. Home State (Meghalaya) General category closed at much higher ranks due to home state advantage. These are reference figures; official CSAB 2026 cutoffs will differ.
2
How is CSAB cutoff different from JoSAA cutoff?
CSAB closing ranks are typically 5–20% higher (more relaxed/open) than JoSAA Round 6 closing ranks for the same institute and branch. This is because most top-rank candidates have already been placed in JoSAA, reducing competition in CSAB rounds.
3
Which colleges are included in CSAB 2025 closing ranks?
CSAB 2025 included closing ranks for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs with vacant seats after JoSAA Round 6. The main NIT colleges were those in NE states (Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal, Sikkim), NIT Srinagar, NIT Uttarakhand, NIT Puducherry, and several GFTIs.
4
Are CSAB 2025 cutoffs useful for CSAB 2026 prediction?
Yes, CSAB 2025 cutoffs provide a strong baseline for predicting CSAB 2026 ranges. The pattern of which institutes have seats and approximate rank ranges tends to be consistent year-over-year. Add a buffer of 5–10% to 2025 ranks to estimate 2026 possibilities conservatively.
5
What is the CSAB 2025 cutoff for GFTIs?
GFTIs typically have much higher closing ranks (more open cutoffs) than NITs because they have lower demand. Many GFTIs in CSAB 2025 accepted candidates with ranks above 80,000–1,50,000 CRL in General category. Some agricultural and specialized GFTIs had even higher closing ranks.
