Special Eligibility Cases – CSAB 2026
JoSAA Withdrawal and CSAB
If you participated in JoSAA 2026 and received a seat allotment, but then withdrew before the final reporting date, your JoSAA seat is cancelled and you are free to participate in CSAB 2026. Note: the seat acceptance fee paid in JoSAA is generally not refunded after withdrawal.
CSAB NEUT Round – Special Eligibility
The CSAB NEUT (North-East & Union Territory) round is specifically for candidates domiciled in the following:
NEUT round candidates must provide valid domicile/residence proof from their respective state/UT during registration.
Class 12 Equivalence for CSAB
Candidates with Class 12 equivalence certificates (e.g., NIOS, IB Diploma, foreign boards with AIU recognition) are eligible if they meet the 75% marks criterion or top 20 percentile in their respective board. Verification is done at the institute level during document verification.
Key Takeaway
The most common confusion about CSAB eligibility is around JoSAA status. The rule is simple: if you physically reported to a JoSAA-allotted institute and got admission, you cannot do CSAB. If you only got an allotment but did not go to the institute (withdrew), you can participate in CSAB. Always withdraw formally through the JoSAA portal before the reporting deadline if you plan to try CSAB.
