When Should You Use CSAB Instead of JoSAA?
CSAB is for you if:
- You did not register for JoSAA 2026 (missed the JoSAA window)
- You registered for JoSAA but did not receive any allotment across all 6 rounds
- You received a JoSAA allotment but withdrew before the final reporting date
- You are from a NE state and want to try the CSAB NEUT round specifically
CSAB is NOT for you if:
- You accepted a JoSAA seat and reported to the allotted institute (Final/Freeze)
- You are a foreign national (DASA process applies, not CSAB)
- You want IIT admission (IITs are only through JoSAA)

CSAB runs after JoSAA (July–August) with 2–3 special rounds covering only NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, filling seats that remained vacant after JoSAA. 2Can I apply for both CSAB and JoSAA?
You can participate in JoSAA first and then CSAB, but not simultaneously. If you accepted a JoSAA seat and reported to an institute (Final/Freeze), you cannot participate in CSAB. If you withdrew from JoSAA counselling before the reporting deadline, you can register for CSAB.
