CSAB College Predictor 2026

Predict your NIT, IIIT, or GFTI seat through CSAB 2026 — the counselling after JoSAA Round 5, starting late July 2026

What is CSAB College Predictor 2026?

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) 2026 is the counselling process conducted after JoSAA's 5 main rounds to fill seats that remain vacant at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. JoSAA Round 5 concluded on July 16, 2026, and CSAB 2026 registration and vacancy display opened July 28, 2026 and closed August 3, 2026. The SR1 result was declared August 6, 2026, and the SR2 result was declared August 12, 2026, completing CSAB 2026 counselling.

A CSAB College Predictor uses your JEE Main 2026 rank, category (General/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS), and gender to estimate which NIT, IIIT, or GFTI programs you are likely to receive in CSAB's special rounds. The predictions are based on previous year CSAB seat allotment data and closing ranks.

Unlike JoSAA which covers 135+ institutes including IITs, CSAB covers 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 33 GFTIs. IITs do not participate in CSAB. Seats available in CSAB are generally those that were not filled across all 5 JoSAA rounds — meaning they often include newer institutes, less-preferred branches, or seats reserved for special category candidates.

CSAB also runs a dedicated NEUT round (North East states and Union Territory candidates) and a DASA round for NRI/foreign students — both with separate eligibility conditions and seat pools.

Frequently Asked Questions – CSAB College Predictor 2026

Common questions about CSAB 2026 seat allotment and college prediction

1
What is CSAB 2026 and when does it start?
CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) 2026 is a special counselling round that fills vacant NIT, IIIT, and GFTI seats remaining after JoSAA's 5 rounds concluded on July 16, 2026. CSAB 2026 registration closed on August 3, 2026. The SR1 (Special Round 1) result was declared August 6, 2026, and the SR2 (Special Round 2) result was declared August 12, 2026, completing CSAB 2026 counselling. It required separate registration on the CSAB portal and does not cover IITs.
2
Who is eligible for CSAB 2026?
Any candidate who has a valid JEE Main 2026 rank and meets the 75% Class 12 criterion (65% for SC/ST/PwD) is eligible for CSAB 2026. This includes candidates who did not participate in JoSAA, those who participated but did not get a seat, and those who surrendered their JoSAA seat.
3
How many rounds does CSAB 2026 have?
CSAB 2026 typically conducts 2 regular special rounds followed by 1 NEUT (North East & Union Territories) round and optionally a DASA round. The exact number of rounds depends on seat availability and is confirmed by CSAB after JoSAA concludes.
4
Can I get CSE at a good NIT through CSAB 2026?
Yes, but the chances depend on your rank. After 5 JoSAA rounds, primarily seats in newer NITs, less-popular branches, or seats reserved for special categories remain. CSE at top NITs like Trichy or Warangal is rarely available in CSAB. However, CSE at NITs like NIT Silchar, NIT Agartala, NIT Manipur, and several newer NITs is feasible.
5
Do I need to register separately for CSAB 2026?
Yes. CSAB 2026 requires separate registration on the official CSAB portal even if you were registered for JoSAA. Registration typically opens shortly after JoSAA Round 5 results. Candidates must re-upload documents and pay a fresh registration fee. Monitor csab.nic.in for official announcements.
