CSAB 2026 Provisional Allotment Letter Download

Once CSAB declares the result for a round (SR1 or SR2), candidates who received an allotment can download their provisional seat allotment letter directly from the official CSAB portal, csab.nic.in. The letter is not emailed proactively in most years, so you must log in and retrieve it yourself as soon as the result is out. Here is the typical process, based on how csab.nic.in has functioned in recent counselling cycles:

1. Visit csab.nic.in and click on the candidate login link for the current session.
2. Log in using your JEE Main application number/roll number and the password set during CSAB registration.
3. Navigate to the "Seat Allotment Result" or "Allotment Letter" section of your dashboard.
4. Select the relevant round (SR1 or SR2) if prompted, and click "Download" or "Print Allotment Letter."
5. The letter opens as a PDF — save it to your device and print at least one physical copy immediately.

Because this section of the portal experiences very heavy traffic in the hours right after a result is declared, it's common for the page to load slowly or intermittently. Trying again after a short wait, or during a less busy time such as early morning, usually resolves this without needing to contact the helpline.

The provisional allotment letter is the single most important document in your CSAB admission journey, since it is the official proof that you have been allotted a seat. It typically records your personal and academic details (name, roll number, category, JEE Main rank), the allotted institute and branch, the quota under which you were allotted (home state or other state), the round number, the counselling fee payable, and the deadline by which you must complete fee payment and reporting/verification.

It is marked "provisional" because your seat only becomes final once you complete two further steps: paying the required counselling fee within the deadline, and successfully clearing document verification (either physically at a reporting centre or, in recent cycles, largely online) where your original rank card, category certificates, and educational documents are checked against your registration details. Our document verification process guide and fee payment process guide walk through these next steps in detail.

You will also need this letter, along with your JEE Main rank card, at the institute if physical reporting is required — see our page on online vs physical reporting for how this typically works for CSAB. Keep both a printed copy and a digital copy saved securely, since it is commonly asked for at multiple stages, including at the institute during the academic session's start.
