CSAB 2026 – Physical Reporting at Institute: Complete Guide
When to Report · What to Bring · Document Verification Process · Hostel Allotment · Consequences of Not Reporting
When to Report and Why It Matters
Physical reporting is the final and most critical step in the CSAB 2026 admission process. After you receive a seat allotment, pay the seat acceptance fee, and download your allotment letter, you must physically report to the allotted institute within the reporting window specified in your allotment letter.
The reporting window is typically set for 5–10 days after the final CSAB round result. For CSAB 2026, SR2 was declared on August 12, 2026, and the document verification query response deadline was August 17, 2026, with physical reporting completing shortly after. CSAB 2026 counselling is now complete. Your specific deadline was printed on your CSAB allotment letter.
Unlike the online fee payment step (which can be done from anywhere), reporting requires physical presence at the campus. Many students make the mistake of assuming the seat is confirmed after paying the fee online — it is not. The seat is fully confirmed only after you report in person and complete document verification at the institute.
Critical Warning
Missing the reporting deadline means permanently losing your CSAB 2026 seat. There are no grace periods or individual extensions. Plan your travel well in advance, especially if you are reporting to an NIT in a distant state.
What to Bring: Complete Document Checklist
Bring originals AND photocopiesof all documents. Most institutes ask for 2–4 sets of attested photocopies. Some require self-attestation; others require gazette officer attestation. Check the specific institute's admission notice.

What Happens at Reporting: Step by Step
Arrive at the institute and collect reporting forms
On arrival, collect the reporting/admission kit from the admissions office or help desk. This usually contains the enrollment form, hostel application, anti-ragging declaration, and other forms to fill.
Document verification by institute staff
Submit your documents at the verification counter. Staff will cross-check all originals against your CSAB allotment details — name, rank, category, and programme. This step can take 1–2 hours during peak days.
Medical fitness check
Some NITs conduct a basic medical examination (vision, height-weight, blood group) at the time of reporting. Others accept a certificate from a registered doctor. Check the institute's admission notice in advance.
Fee payment at the institute
You will be required to pay the institute's first semester/annual fee. This is separate from the CSAB seat acceptance fee. Payment is typically via demand draft or online transfer. Check the exact fee structure from the institute website before arriving.
Hostel allotment (if applicable)
After enrollment, hostel allotment is done either immediately or within the first week of the semester. Many NITs in remote locations (NE NITs) make hostel accommodation mandatory. Bring your hostel fee if required.
Collection of institute ID and materials
Some institutes issue a temporary ID card or enrollment slip on reporting day itself. Library card and other materials are issued in the first week of classes.
What Happens If You Cannot Report In Person?
In genuine exceptional circumstances (medical emergency, natural disaster), some institutes allow a limited grace period or delegate reporting. Here is what to do:
Medical emergency preventing travel
Contact the institute's admission office immediately via phone and email. Attach medical records. Some institutes allow a trusted family member to submit documents and pay fees, with candidate physical presence within 7–10 days of the window. Always get written confirmation from the institute.
Travel logistics (flight/train not available to remote NIT)
This is not considered an exceptional circumstance by most institutes. Plan travel well in advance — book tickets the day you receive your allotment. For NE state NITs, air connectivity can be limited; check in advance and book immediately.
CSAB online reporting (where available)
Some NITs offer initial online reporting (document upload on institute portal) before physical reporting. This buys a few additional days but does NOT replace physical reporting. Treat online reporting as a preliminary step only.
