File Format Requirements

Incorrectly formatted files are the most common cause of document rejections. Follow these specifications precisely:

Document TypeFormatMax SizeResolution
Certificates & MarksheetsPDF or JPEG/JPG200–500 KB300 DPI recommended
PhotographJPEG/JPG only50–80 KB200×230 pixels or similar
SignatureJPEG/JPG only10–30 KB150×60 pixels or similar
Category CertificatePDF or JPEG/JPG200–300 KB300 DPI

Scanning Tips

  • • Scan in colour (not black-and-white) for category certificates and photographs
  • • Ensure all text is clearly legible — blurry scans are rejected
  • • Reduce PDF file size using online compressors if files are too large
  • • Do not scan pages at an angle — keep documents flat

Step-by-Step Upload Process

1

Login to csab.nic.in with your JEE Main 2026 Roll Number and Date of Birth.

2

Navigate to the 'Document Upload' section on your candidate dashboard.

3

For each document type, click the 'Upload' button next to the field.

4

Select the file from your device. The portal will preview the uploaded file.

5

Verify the preview is clear, correctly oriented, and shows complete information.

6

If the preview is satisfactory, confirm/save the upload.

7

Repeat for all required documents. The portal shows a checkmark when each upload is completed.

8

Review the full upload checklist on the portal to ensure all required documents are uploaded.

9

Submit the registration form once all documents are uploaded.

Handling Rejected Documents

If a document is flagged as rejected after CSAB staff review, the portal will notify you and allow a re-upload window. Here is how to handle each common rejection reason:

Reason: Blurry or unreadable scan

Fix: Re-scan at higher DPI (300 DPI) with good lighting. Use a flatbed scanner if possible. Do not photograph documents with a phone camera in poor light.

Reason: Wrong document uploaded

Fix: Re-upload the correct document in the relevant field. Double-check that you are uploading Class 12 marksheet in the Class 12 field, not the Class 10 certificate.

Reason: File size too large

Fix: Use an online PDF compressor (like ilovepdf.com) or image resizer to reduce file size below the limit. Re-scan at lower DPI (200 DPI may be sufficient for most documents).

Reason: Category certificate expired or in wrong format

Fix: Obtain a fresh certificate from the issuing authority. OBC-NCL certificates must be from the current financial year. Ensure it is in the Central Government format (not just state format).

Reason: Photograph/signature not meeting specs

Fix: Photograph: ensure white background, full face visible, no glasses, no cap. Signature: sign on white paper in blue/black ink, scan clearly, no smudging.

The key documents for CSAB 2026 are: Class 10 certificate (for date of birth), Class 12 marksheet, JEE Main 2026 scorecard, JEE Main rank card (or admit card), recent passport-size photograph, signature, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), PwD certificate (if applicable), and domicile certificate (for NEUT round candidates).
2
What file format is required for document upload in CSAB 2026?
CSAB typically requires documents in PDF or JPEG/JPG format. Scanned documents should be in PDF (for certificates and marksheets) and JPEG (for photographs and signatures). The maximum file size is generally 200–500 KB per document. Always check the exact specifications in the CSAB 2026 official notification.
3
What happens if my uploaded document is rejected?
If a document is rejected, the CSAB portal will notify you and allow you to re-upload a corrected version. Common rejection reasons are: blurry scan, incorrect file format, file size too large, or incorrect document uploaded. Re-scan clearly and upload within the re-upload deadline.
4
Can I upload documents after the CSAB registration deadline?
No. Document upload is part of the registration process, and all documents must be uploaded before the registration window closes. Some documents may also be required again at the time of physical reporting to the institute (original + attested copies).
5
Do I need to upload all documents again for CSAB if I already did JoSAA?
Yes. CSAB is a separate portal (csab.nic.in) from JoSAA (josaa.nic.in) and requires independent registration and document upload. Your JoSAA documents are not automatically transferred to CSAB.
