CSAB 2026 Seat Acceptance Fee Amounts

After receiving a seat allotment in CSAB 2026, you must pay the seat acceptance fee on the CSAB portal (csab.nic.in) within the deadline to confirm your seat. Not paying = losing the allotted seat.

CategorySeat Acceptance Fee (Expected)Notes
General / EWS~₹30,000Paid to CSAB to accept allotted seat
OBC-NCL~₹30,000Same as General in most years
SC / ST~₹15,000Reduced fee for reserved categories
PwD (any category)~₹15,000Reduced fee for PwD candidates

*Amounts are estimates based on CSAB 2025 fee structure. Official amounts will be in the CSAB 2026 notification at csab.nic.in.

Important: Two Separate Fees

The seat acceptance fee (paid on CSAB portal) is different from the institute's tuition fee. The institute fee (₹1–2 lakh per year depending on the NIT/IIIT) is paid separately when you physically report to the allotted college. Do not confuse the two.

Step-by-Step Fee Payment on CSAB Portal

1

Login to csab.nic.in

Use your registered JEE Main Roll Number and password. Go to the candidate dashboard.

2

View Allotment Result

Check your allotment result. Verify the institute name, branch, category, and round. Download/save your allotment letter.

3

Click 'Accept Seat' or 'Fee Payment'

If you want to accept the allotted seat, click the Accept/Fee Payment button. If you choose to not accept or withdraw, click accordingly (but note: not accepting = losing the seat).

4

Choose Payment Method

Select from: Net Banking, Debit Card (Visa/Mastercard/RuPay), or UPI. Credit cards are generally not accepted. UPI is the fastest and most reliable method.

5

Complete Payment on the Gateway

You will be redirected to the government payment gateway. Enter your bank credentials or UPI PIN. Complete the authentication (OTP, 3D-Secure, etc.).

6

Wait for Confirmation

After payment, do NOT close the browser or press back. Wait for the portal to redirect back to csab.nic.in with a success confirmation. This may take 30–60 seconds.

7

Download Payment Receipt

Once confirmed, download the payment receipt from your dashboard. This is your proof of seat acceptance. Also save/print your updated allotment letter.

What Happens If Payment Fails?

Payment failures during CSAB fee payment are stressful but manageable. Here is what to do:

Payment deducted from bank, portal shows 'pending'

Wait 24–48 hours. The payment gateway reconciliation process takes time. Log back in after 24 hours — the status often updates automatically. If still pending after 48 hours, contact the CSAB helpdesk with your transaction reference number.

Transaction failed — amount not deducted

Try paying again using a different payment method (e.g., switch from Net Banking to UPI). Ensure you have enough balance. Try on a different browser or device if the issue persists.

Payment failed but amount was deducted twice

Do not panic. The duplicate charge will be auto-refunded within 5–7 business days. Keep your bank transaction reference numbers and report to CSAB helpdesk if the refund does not appear after 7 days.

Deadline is approaching and payment keeps failing

Try UPI payment — it is the most reliable real-time payment method. Contact the CSAB helpdesk immediately and explain the technical issue. Document every attempt with screenshots.

CSAB 2026 Refund Policy

The CSAB seat acceptance fee refund policy has historically worked as follows (exact policy for 2026 will be in the official notification):

FAQs – CSAB 2026 Fee Payment

Common questions about fee payment process after CSAB 2026 seat allotment

1
How much is the CSAB 2026 seat acceptance fee?
Based on past years, the CSAB seat acceptance fee is approximately ₹30,000 for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. This is separate from the institute's tuition fee, which is paid directly to the institute after reporting. Exact amounts will be confirmed in the official CSAB 2026 notification.
2
What payment methods are accepted for CSAB 2026 fee?
CSAB accepts fee payment via net banking (all major banks), debit card (Visa/Mastercard/RuPay), and UPI (BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe). Credit cards are generally not accepted. The payment is processed through a secure government payment gateway.
3
What happens if my fee payment fails or the transaction is stuck?
If the transaction fails, the amount is typically auto-refunded to your account within 5–7 business days. Do not pay again immediately — check your bank statement first. If the payment is stuck (deducted but not confirmed on the portal), wait 24 hours and contact the CSAB helpdesk with your transaction ID.
4
Is the seat acceptance fee refundable if I don't report to the college?
No — the seat acceptance fee is generally non-refundable if you do not report to the allotted institute. If you withdraw from CSAB after paying the fee, a partial refund may be available depending on the CSAB 2026 withdrawal policy, but the processing charge is deducted. Check the official CSAB notification for exact refund slabs.
5
What is the difference between CSAB seat acceptance fee and institute fee?
The seat acceptance fee (~₹30,000 for General) is paid online on the CSAB portal to secure/accept your allotted seat. This is paid to CSAB. The institute fee (tuition fee, hostel fee, etc.) is a much larger amount (typically ₹1.25–1.75 lakh/year) paid directly to the allotted NIT/IIIT after you physically report to the institute. These are two completely separate payments.
