What is the difference between CAP Round 1, 2, and 3 cutoffs?
CAP Round 1 cutoffs are typically higher than Round 2 and 3, as the most competitive candidates fill top colleges first. Round 2 sees some seats vacate as candidates upgrade, allowing candidates with slightly lower percentiles to get previously unavailable seats. Round 3 (Mop-up) has the most dynamic cutoffs — some colleges see cutoffs drop, while others see no change if demand remains high.

Yes, category cutoffs generally follow the same trend as Open cutoffs. When Open cutoffs rise, OBC and other category cutoffs also tend to rise proportionally. The gap between Open and OBC cutoffs has remained roughly 0.02–0.10 percentile at top colleges, and 1–5 percentile at mid-tier colleges. SC and ST cutoffs are typically 5–15 percentile below Open at government colleges.
