Maharashtra Reservation Categories Explained
Open (General): No reservation; all candidates compete. Also includes candidates who don't claim any reservation.
OBC-NCL: Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer). Maharashtra OBC list includes Kunbi, Mali, Teli, etc. Family income must be below ₹8L.
SC: Scheduled Castes — 13% reservation in Maharashtra. Includes Mahar, Mang, Chambhar, etc.
ST: Scheduled Tribes — 7% reservation. Includes Gond, Warli, Bhill, Bhutia, etc.
VJ-DT: Vimukta Jati / Denotified Tribes — 3% reservation in Maharashtra.
