The official MHT-CET 2026 CAP seat matrix is published on dtemaharashtra.gov.in. CAP registration/document upload was extended to July 16, 2026, with verification concluding July 17 and the final merit list published around July 20. MHT-CET 2026 CAP counselling is now fully complete, having run through four rounds (Round 1: Aug 2, Round 2: Aug 9, Round 3: Aug 24, final Round 4: Sept 3, 2026). The data below is based on 2025 approved intake and is indicative only — verify current seat counts on the official portal.

How to Use the Seat Matrix for Choice Filling

Understand Total Seats

Maharashtra has ~4 lakh engineering seats. 80% go through DTE's CAP (Centralized Admission Process). 20% may be direct admissions via management quota.

Know Your Category

Identify your category (Open, SC, ST, OBC, VJNT, SBC, EWS). Ensure your caste/category certificate is valid for Maharashtra and is current (non-creamy layer renewed).

Understand Home University vs State Level

30% of seats in each college are Home University quota. If you studied Class 12 in Mumbai region, you compete with fewer candidates for Mumbai University HU seats.

Check TFWS Eligibility

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) provides 100% fee waiver. It is based on annual family income (below ₹8 lakh). 5% of seats per branch are under TFWS.

How many engineering seats are available through MHT-CET 2026 in Maharashtra?
Maharashtra has approximately 3.8–4.2 lakh engineering seats across over 300 institutes affiliated to various universities (Mumbai University, Pune University/SPPU, RTMNU Nagpur, BAMU Aurangabad, etc.). These include government, government-aided, and private unaided institutes. The exact 2026 seat matrix will be published by DTE Maharashtra before CAP registration begins.

What is the category-wise reservation in MHT-CET 2026 CAP?
Maharashtra engineering admissions follow a reservation policy: Open/General (50.5%), SC (13%), ST (7.5%), VJNT-A (3%), VJNT-B (2.5%), VJNT-C (3.5%), VJNT-D (2%), SBC (2%), OBC (19%), and EWS (10% of Open seats). Additionally, 30% seats in each institute are Home University quota (reserved for students from the same university board region). TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme) seats are also available — 5% of approved intake.

What is Home University quota in MHT-CET seat matrix?
30% of all CAP seats in every Maharashtra engineering college are reserved as Home University quota for candidates who passed Class 12 from a college within the same university region. For example, 30% of VJTI Mumbai's seats go to students whose Class 12 is from the Mumbai University region. The remaining 70% are State Level seats open to candidates from any part of Maharashtra. Home University seats typically have lower cutoffs than State Level seats.

How many seats does VJTI Mumbai have in CSE?
VJTI Mumbai (Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute) has approximately 60 seats in Computer Engineering (CSE) and 60 seats in Information Technology (IT). These are highly competitive — CSE seats at VJTI require a percentile of 99.8+ in MHT-CET. VJTI also offers Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Production, and Textile branches with varying seat counts. The official VJTI seat matrix for 2026 will be on dtemaharashtra.gov.in.

Can OBC candidates from outside Maharashtra participate in MHT-CET CAP?
OBC reservation in Maharashtra engineering admissions applies only to candidates who have a valid Maharashtra OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate. Candidates with OBC certificates from other states will be treated as Open/General category in Maharashtra CAP. Only candidates who are domiciled in Maharashtra and have state-issued OBC NCL certificates can claim OBC reservation benefits in MHT-CET CAP.
