How to Check Your Round 5 Result
Log in to josaa.nic.in
Use your JEE Main/Advanced application number and the password set during registration. If you've forgotten it, use the 'Forgot Password' recovery flow linked to your registered mobile/email.
Open 'View Seat Allotment'
Your Round 5 result shows the final allotted institute, program, branch, category, seat type (Home State/Other State/OS), and the applicable fee.
Download and save the allotment letter
This is your official document for reporting. Keep both digital and printed copies — institutes typically require it during document verification.
Check for 'not allotted' status
If your result shows no allotment, this means none of your locked choices matched an available seat for your rank across all five rounds. Move directly to reviewing CSAB 2026 eligibility.
Note the reporting deadline
After Round 5, the NIT+ partial admission fee payment window and physical/online reporting followed. JoSAA 2026 counselling is now fully complete, and CSAB 2026 special rounds (SR1: Aug 6, SR2: Aug 12) have also concluded for any remaining vacancies.
Why Round 5 Was the Absolute Final Round
JoSAA fixes the total number of allotment rounds before the counselling process begins each year, based on how many rounds are needed to reasonably exhaust the pool of eligible candidates against available seats. For 2026, JoSAA determined five rounds were sufficient — a change from 2025's six rounds. This means Round 5's July 16, 2026 result is the definitive, non-appealable end of the standard JoSAA allotment cycle; there is no mechanism to request a "Round 6" or an extension.
By the time Round 5 was processed, the number of active Float candidates had shrunk to its smallest point across the entire process — most candidates satisfied at any earlier stage had already Frozen and exited. This is why Round 5 typically produces the least seat movement of all five rounds; see our final round analysis of all 5 rounds for the full movement pattern across the process.
For candidates who remain unallotted or dissatisfied after Round 5, the process does not simply end — it hands off to CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board), which runs separate special rounds specifically to fill seats left vacant after JoSAA concludes. This is a distinct system with its own registration (opening July 28, 2026), choice filling, and allotment cycle. Read our guide to total vacant seats after Round 5 to understand how many seats typically flow into CSAB.
What to Do Next, Based on Your Round 5 Outcome
Proceed directly to fee payment (if pending) and reporting. No further action needed in JoSAA — your admission process moves to the institute-level reporting phase.
You can either accept the JoSAA seat as-is, or consider withdrawing to try CSAB for a different NIT/IIIT/GFTI. Review refund and eligibility implications carefully before withdrawing.
CSAB 2026 registration closed August 3, 2026, with the SR1 result declared August 6 and the SR2 result declared August 12 — CSAB 2026 counselling is now complete. You remain eligible for NIT, IIIT, and GFTI seats through CSAB's special rounds — track your status on csab.nic.in.
IITs generally do not participate in CSAB. If dissatisfied with an IIT allotment, your options are largely limited to accepting it, or exploring whether the specific IIT concerned declares any special round of its own for residual vacancies.
Important Notes on the Final Round
- Round 5 does not accept new Float/Slide requests going forward — it is the terminal allotment.
- The seat acceptance fee (₹35,000/₹15,000) and reporting deadlines still apply strictly, even in the final round.
- CSAB 2026 is a separate registration — being registered in JoSAA does not automatically enroll you in CSAB.
