How to Check JoSAA 2026 Round 2 Result on josaa.nic.in

Follow these steps to access your Round 2 seat allotment letter:

1

Visit josaa.nic.in

Open the official JoSAA portal at josaa.nic.in in your browser. Avoid third-party sites claiming to show results — only the official portal has authoritative allotment data. If the site is slow due to peak traffic, try off-peak hours (early morning or late night).

2

Log In with Your JEE Credentials

Click on 'Candidate Login.' Enter your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and the password you set during JoSAA registration. If you forgot your password, use the 'Forgot Password' link — it sends a reset to your registered email/mobile.

3

Navigate to 'View Allotment Letter'

Once logged in, click on 'View Allotment Letter' from the dashboard. This displays your Round 2 result: either an allotment letter with institute, program, category, and seat type — or a 'Not Allotted' status.

4

Download and Save Your Allotment Letter

If allotted, download the PDF allotment letter immediately. Save it to cloud storage and email a copy to yourself. This document is required for fee payment, document verification, and institute reporting.

5

Select Your Freeze / Float / Slide Choice

After viewing your allotment, you must respond within the window (closes approximately July 2–3). Select Freeze to lock your current seat, Float to continue seeking upgrades in Rounds 3–5, or Slide to seek a branch upgrade within the same institute.

Understanding Your Round 2 Result Status

JoSAA Round 2 results fall into four possible statuses. Here is what each means and what action to take:

Allotted (Upgraded — New Seat Better Than Round 1)

What it means: You were on Float after Round 1, and the algorithm found a higher-preference match at your rank. Your new allotment replaces the Round 1 seat.

What to do: Pay the acceptance fee by ~July 3. Log in and select Freeze/Float/Slide based on whether you want further upgrades in Rounds 3–5.

Allotted (First Allotment — Was Not Allotted in Round 1)

What it means: Round 1 Float upgrades created new vacancies that matched your choice list and rank. This is your first allotment in the process.

What to do: Pay the acceptance fee by ~July 3. Select Freeze to secure this seat or Float for further upgrades — 3 more rounds remain.

Allotted (Same Seat as Round 1 — No Upgrade This Round)

What it means: You were on Float but no higher-preference seat was available at your rank in Round 2. Your Round 1 allotment continues unchanged.

What to do: Confirm continued participation and select Float/Freeze for Round 3. Rounds 3, 4, 5 (July 6, 10, 16) still offer upgrade opportunities.

Not Allotted (No Seat in Round 1 or Round 2)

What it means: No seat matched your choice list and rank in either round. This affects roughly 15–25% of active candidates at this stage.

What to do: Do NOT withdraw. You remain in the system automatically. Wait for Round 3 (July 6). No portal action is needed unless prompted.

Fee Payment Deadline — Act by ~July 3, 2026

If you received any allotment in Round 2 (new or continued from Round 1), you must pay or reconfirm the seat acceptance fee within the response window. Missing this deadline cancels your allotment permanently.

JoSAA 2026 Round 2 Result – FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about the JoSAA 2026 Round 2 seat allotment result

1
When was the JoSAA 2026 Round 2 result declared?
The JoSAA 2026 Round 2 seat allotment result was released on June 30, 2026. Results are published on josaa.nic.in and can be accessed by logging in with your JEE Application Number and password.
2
What is the fee payment deadline for JoSAA 2026 Round 2?
The fee payment deadline for Round 2 is approximately July 3, 2026 — about three days after the result declaration. You must pay the seat acceptance fee online through josaa.nic.in within this window. Missing the deadline causes your allotment to be automatically cancelled. The fee is ₹35,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
3
I was not allotted any seat in Round 2. What should I do?
Do not withdraw from JoSAA. You remain in the system automatically for Rounds 3, 4, and 5 (July 6, July 10, and July 16 respectively). No action is required — JoSAA will re-evaluate your choices against newly available seats in each subsequent round. Stay in the process and wait for Round 3.
4
I was upgraded in Round 2 from my Round 1 seat. Do I pay the full fee again?
If you paid the acceptance fee in Round 1, your payment transfers to the new allotment. You do not pay the full amount again. However, you must log in, confirm the new allotment, and select your Freeze/Float/Slide choice in the Round 2 response window. Failure to respond may affect your continued participation.
5
Should I Freeze or Float after receiving my Round 2 allotment?
Freeze if you are satisfied with your current seat or if your remaining Float choices require a rank 20–25% better than yours. Float if you have realistic higher-preference choices — 3 rounds remain (R3: July 6, R4: July 10, R5: July 16). Float is always zero-risk: your current seat is guaranteed as backup regardless of what happens in subsequent rounds.
