How to Check JoSAA 2026 Seat Allotment Status Online

Login to josaa.nic.in, view your allotment, understand each status, and download your allotment letter — complete step-by-step guide

Step-by-Step: How to Check JoSAA Allotment Status

1

Go to josaa.nic.in

Open the official JoSAA portal on any browser. Always use the official URL directly — avoid clicking links from unofficial sources.

2

Click 'Login'

On the homepage, click the 'Candidate Login' button. Use your JEE Main or JEE Advanced application number as the user ID, and the password you set during JoSAA registration.

3

Navigate to Seat Allotment

After logging in, look for the 'Seat Allotment' or 'View Allotment' link in the dashboard menu. Click it to see your current allotment status for the latest completed round.

4

Read Your Status

Your status will show one of: Seat Allotted (with college, branch, and category details), Not Allotted (no seat available for your choices), or Allotment Upgraded (your seat was upgraded vs. the previous round).

5

Download Allotment Letter

If allotted, click 'Download Allotment Letter'. Save the PDF and print multiple copies. The letter includes your allotment details, reporting instructions, and the fee payment deadline.

What Each Allotment Status Means

Seat Allotted

The algorithm successfully matched you with a seat in one of your listed choices. The allotment shows your institute, programme, branch, and seat category. You must pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline and choose Freeze, Float, or Slide.

Seat Upgraded

You had a seat from a previous round, and in this round the algorithm successfully moved you to a higher-preference choice from your list (because you chose Float or Slide). Your new allotment is shown — you can accept, upgrade further, or freeze.

Not Allotted

None of your choices had a seat available at your rank in this round. Add more (and lower-ranked) college-branch choices before the next round's lock deadline. Consider adding GFTIs and less-popular branches at NITs/IIITs as backup options.

What to Do After Seeing Your Allotment

Once you see your allotment status, act quickly — the response window is typically only 2–3 days.

  • If allotted: Download the allotment letter, pay the seat acceptance fee online (UPI / net banking / debit card), and select your response (Freeze/Float/Slide).
  • If not allotted: Do not panic. Log in and add more choices — particularly GFTIs, less-competitive NITs and IIITs, and branches outside CSE/ECE. Wait for the next round.
  • After Round 5 (Final): If still unallotted, register for CSAB 2026 (opens ~2 days after JoSAA Round 5 reporting deadline) for another chance at NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats.

When is JoSAA 2026 Round 1 allotment result announced?
JoSAA 2026 Round 1 allotment result was released on June 13, 2026. Results are published on josaa.nic.in and candidates are notified via SMS/email. Subsequent rounds (2–5) will be released through July 16, 2026.
2
What does 'Seat Allotted' status mean in JoSAA?
'Seat Allotted' means the JoSAA algorithm has assigned you a college-branch combination from your choice list. This is a provisional allotment — you must pay the seat acceptance fee and choose Freeze/Float/Slide within the deadline to confirm it. Not paying within the deadline cancels the allotment.
3
What does 'Not Allotted' status mean in JoSAA?
'Not Allotted' means none of the college-branch choices in your list had a seat available at your rank in that round. This can happen if your choice list is too short or all your choices are highly competitive. You can wait for subsequent rounds or add more choices before the next round's lock deadline.
4
Can I check JoSAA allotment without logging in?
No — JoSAA allotment results are candidate-specific and require login using your JEE Main or JEE Advanced application number and password. There is no public search tool to look up allotment by name. Make sure you remember your credentials before the result date.
5
How do I download the JoSAA 2026 allotment letter?
After logging into josaa.nic.in, navigate to 'Seat Allotment' and click 'Download Allotment Letter'. The letter is a PDF containing your allotment details, reporting deadline, and fee structure. Print at least 3 copies — you'll need them for institute reporting and document verification.
