JEE Advanced 2026 EWS Cutoff – IIT EWS Category Qualifying Marks
EWS qualifying marks, 10% IIT seats reserved, and JoSAA 2026 closing ranks for EWS category
JEE Advanced EWS Qualifying Cutoff and Eligibility 2026
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservation was introduced in IITs from 2019. The qualifying cutoff for EWS is the same as General category — approximately 90 marks aggregate. EWS candidates compete in both the General merit list (CRL) and a separate EWS rank list.
10% of all IIT seats are reserved for EWS. This means if an IIT branch has 60 seats, 6 are for EWS. EWS seats were added by increasing total intake — existing reserved seats were not affected. IIT intake grew by approximately 25% from 2019 onwards due to this addition.
The EWS rank is your position among all EWS-qualifying candidates ranked by aggregate marks. For JoSAA 2026, you can fill choices for both General seats (using CRL) and EWS seats (using EWS rank) — JoSAA picks the best allotment automatically.
