The MHT CET 2026 CAP final merit list was released on July 20, 2026. CAP Round 1 choice filling ran from July 28 to July 30, 2026, and the provisional Round 1 seat allotment was declared on August 2, 2026, followed by seat acceptance and institute reporting from August 3 to August 5.CAP Round 2 allotment followed on August 12, and Round 3 on August 24, 2026. A further Round 4 (Non-CAP/Vacancy round) ran from September 3, 2026 to fill remaining seats — CAP 2026 is now essentially complete. MHT CET 2026 CAP – Complete Process
Online CAP Registration
Register on cetcell.mahacet.org using your MHT CET 2026 application number and date of birth. Pay the CAP registration fee online.
Upload Documents
Upload scanned copies of Class 10/12 marksheets, MHT CET scorecard, domicile certificate (Maharashtra students), category certificate, and Aadhaar card.
E-Scrutiny / Physical Verification
Documents are verified online (e-scrutiny) or at designated facilitation centers. Receive a verified application number after approval.
Provisional Merit List
CET Cell publishes a provisional merit list based on MHT CET percentile and/or JEE Main score. Check your rank and category position.
Grievance Correction Window
Raise objections if your name, marks, or category is incorrect on the provisional list. Corrections are accepted for a limited period.
Final Merit List
After resolving grievances, the final merit list (State Merit Number / SMN) is published. This is used for all CAP rounds.
Choice Filling (Option Form)
Fill and lock your college-branch preferences in order of priority. Fill maximum options (200+ choices recommended for best upgrades).
CAP Round 1 Allotment
CET Cell releases Round 1 allotment. You can accept the seat or opt for betterment (to try for a better seat in Round 2 while retaining the current).
Betterment Option / Freeze
If allotted a seat, choose Freeze (accept final) or Betterment (keep seat, try to upgrade in Round 2). Betterment is equivalent to JoSAA's Float option.
CAP Round 2 & 3
Subsequent rounds fill seats vacated by withdrawals and candidates who didn't join. Cutoffs may change round-to-round.
CAP Round 4 (Non-CAP/Vacancy Round)
Since a large number of seats remained vacant after Round 3, the CET Cell ran an additional vacancy-filling round from September 3, 2026.
Institute-Level / Spot Admissions
After all CAP rounds conclude, institutes independently fill remaining vacant seats. Contact institutes directly for spot admissions.

CAP vs Institute-Level Admissions
CAP Rounds (1, 2, 3): Conducted by Maharashtra State CET Cell. All government, government-aided, and participating private colleges fill seats through CAP. Cutoffs are transparently published after each round.
Round 4 (Non-CAP/Vacancy Round): Since 28,000+ seats remained vacant after Round 3, the CET Cell ran an additional vacancy-filling round from September 3, 2026.
Institute-Level Admissions: After CAP Round 4, colleges with remaining vacant seats may fill them independently through their own process. Candidates should contact institutes directly for spot admissions.
Betterment vs Freeze: Similar to JoSAA's Float/Freeze — if allotted a seat in Round 1, you can choose Betterment (keep seat + try to upgrade in Round 2) or Freeze (finalize current seat). Always choose Betterment if your allotted college is not your first preference.
