JoSAA Mock Allotment Predictor 2026

Simulate your JoSAA 2026 seat allotment before Round 1 — optimise your choice list with accurate 2025 data

How JoSAA Mock Allotment Works

JoSAA 2026 conducts 2 mock allotment rounds before actual counselling begins. These give you a preview of what seat you would receive based on your current preference list and rank.

The mock engine is identical to the real allotment algorithm: it processes every registered candidate's preference list from top to bottom and assigns the highest-preference seat where the candidate's rank satisfies the closing rank from the previous year.

Mock allotment is crucial for choice list optimisation. Common mistakes students make: placing a "safe" option too high (blocking aspirational choices), not including HS quota options, or not listing all relevant IIIT/GFTI options as safety nets.

After seeing mock results, you can freely edit your preference list during the choice filling window. Our predictor helps you simulate different preference orders to find the optimal strategy before the actual round 1 lock-in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about JoSAA mock allotment and choice filling

1
What is JoSAA mock allotment?
JoSAA conducts 2 official mock allotment rounds before the actual counselling begins. These use a simulated allotment engine to show candidates which seat they would receive based on their current preference list and rank, so they can optimise choices before real allotment.
2
When does JoSAA 2026 mock allotment take place?
JoSAA mock allotments are typically held in the first two weeks of June, before actual Round 1. In 2025, Mock Round 1 was on June 5 and Mock Round 2 on June 10. JoSAA 2026 Mock 1 was June 8 and Mock 2 was June 10 — both are now past.
3
Is mock allotment binding?
No. Mock allotment results are purely indicative. They do not involve fee payment or seat booking. You can freely modify your preference list between mock rounds and before actual Round 1 lock-in.
4
How should I use mock allotment to optimise my choices?
If mock allotment gives you a lower-preference college than expected, review which programmes are blocking better options in your list. Re-rank to ensure your top aspirational choices appear first, with safety options progressively lower. Our predictor helps simulate outcomes for different choice orderings.
5
Does mock allotment use the same data as real rounds?
Mock allotment uses the same candidate pool and previous year cutoffs as benchmarks. However, the actual candidate distribution (who registered, who made choices) may shift. Take mock results as directional guidance, not definitive predictions.
