JoSAA 2026 Counselling: What Students Should Know

JoSAA 2026 is the common seat allocation process for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates with a valid JEE Main 2026 rank can participate for NIT, IIIT and GFTI seats, while IIT choices require a valid JEE Advanced 2026 rank.

The process usually starts shortly after the JEE Advanced result and includes registration, choice filling, mock allotments, multiple seat allotment rounds, online reporting, fee payment and document verification. Students should fill a broad preference list instead of relying only on dream colleges, because branch, quota, category and round-wise movement can change the final allotment.
