Frequently Asked Questions

1
How to calculate JEE Main score from response sheet?
Download your JEE Main response sheet from the official NTA website. Count the number of correct and incorrect answers for each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). Enter these values in the calculator above. The tool will apply the marking scheme (+4/-1) and show your total score out of 300, along with expected percentile and rank.
2
Where can I find my JEE Main 2026 response sheet URL?
Go to jeemain.nta.nic.in and log in with your application number and date of birth. Click on 'View Response Sheet' under the April 2026 session. Your browser will open a page on cdn3.digialm.com - copy that full URL and paste it into our calculator.
3
What is the JEE Main 2026 marking scheme?
For MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions): +4 marks for a correct answer, -1 mark for an incorrect answer, and 0 for unattempted questions. For Numerical Value Questions (NVQ): +4 marks for a correct answer and 0 for an incorrect or unattempted answer - there is no negative marking for numerical questions.
4
How accurate is this JEE Main Score Calculator?
Our calculator uses the official NTA answer keys released after each session. It applies the exact marking scheme used by NTA - +4 for correct MCQs, -1 for incorrect MCQs, and +4/0 for numerical questions. The raw score output is highly accurate. Percentile and rank estimates are based on previous year trends and may vary slightly from the official NTA result.
5
What is a good score in JEE Main 2026?
A score above 250 is considered excellent and typically corresponds to 99.8+ percentile. Scores between 200–250 are very good (99–99.8 percentile). For NIT admissions, a score of 120–150 (around 97–98 percentile) is generally required for popular branches. For IIT eligibility through JEE Advanced, you need to be in the top 2.5 lakh candidates.
6
Can I use this calculator for JEE Main January 2026 session?
Yes. Our calculator supports both January 2026 and April 2026 sessions. Simply paste your response sheet URL from either session - the calculator automatically detects the exam date and loads the correct answer key for that paper.
7
What is JEE Main percentile and how is it calculated?
JEE Main percentile is NOT the same as percentage of marks. It represents the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or less than you. NTA uses a normalisation formula across multiple shifts: Percentile = (Number of candidates who appeared with raw score ≤ your score ÷ Total candidates in the session) × 100. A percentile of 99 means you scored better than 99% of all candidates.
