JEE Advanced 2027 Architecture Counselling – B.Arch at IITs

JEE Advanced 2027 and AAT 2027 haven't happened yet. Here's how B.Arch counselling at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee is expected to work, based on the stable process followed in recent years.

JEE Advanced 2027 Has Not Happened Yet

No official JEE Advanced 2027 or AAT 2027 notification has been released as of October 2026. This page describes the expected B.Arch counselling process based on the historical pattern — not confirmed 2027 dates or seat numbers.

How B.Arch Counselling Is Expected to Work

Unlike regular B.Tech admission, which is based purely on the JEE Advanced CRL rank, the 5-year B.Arch program at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee has always required an additional qualifying step — the AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test), open only to candidates who have already qualified JEE Advanced. The actual seat allotment, however, still flows through the same JoSAA counselling platform used for B.Tech, just drawing on a separate AAT-based merit list.

This structure exists because architecture aptitude (drawing, visualization, spatial reasoning) is not something JEE Advanced's Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics paper tests, so a dedicated aptitude test is layered on top for candidates who want to be considered for B.Arch specifically. Because this distinction is structural rather than year-specific, it is expected to carry over unchanged into JEE Advanced 2027.

JEE Advanced 2027 Architecture Counselling – FAQs

Common questions about the expected B.Arch counselling process for JEE Advanced 2027

1
Has JEE Advanced 2027 architecture (AAT) counselling been announced?
No. JEE Advanced 2027 and the associated AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) have not been conducted or notified yet. This page describes the expected process based on how B.Arch counselling has worked consistently in recent years, not confirmed 2027 details.
2
Will B.Arch seats at IITs still require AAT in 2027?
Based on the stable historical pattern, yes. B.Arch admission to IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee has required candidates to first qualify JEE Advanced and then separately qualify the AAT, which is conducted a few days after the JEE Advanced result. This two-step structure has remained consistent for years and is expected to continue for 2027.
3
Is B.Arch counselling for 2027 expected to happen through JoSAA?
Yes, based on the historical pattern. B.Arch seat allotment has always run through the same JoSAA counselling system used for B.Tech, but using a separate AAT-based merit list rather than the JEE Advanced CRL rank. This structural separation — one exam, two merit lists, one counselling platform — is expected to remain unchanged for 2027.
4
Can a candidate apply for both B.Tech and B.Arch choices in JoSAA 2027?
Based on how JoSAA has worked every year, yes — candidates are expected to be able to include both B.Tech branches and the B.Arch program in the same JoSAA choice list, in any preferred order. Allotment for each depends on the candidate's standing in the relevant merit list (CRL for B.Tech, AAT rank for B.Arch).
5
What happens if a candidate qualifies JEE Advanced 2027 but not AAT?
Based on the consistent historical rule, a candidate who qualifies JEE Advanced but does not clear the AAT qualifying cutoff (or doesn't appear for AAT) remains eligible for regular B.Tech programs via JoSAA using their JEE Advanced rank, but cannot be considered for B.Arch seats at IIT Kharagpur or IIT Roorkee.
6
When will the exact JEE Advanced 2027 AAT dates be known?
AAT registration and exam dates are announced by the organizing IIT only after the JEE Advanced result for that year is declared. Since JEE Advanced 2027 itself has not been scheduled, AAT 2027 dates cannot be confirmed yet — they will typically follow within days of the JEE Advanced 2027 result once announced.
