How JEE Advanced Qualifying Cutoff Works

To qualify JEE Advanced 2026 and receive an All India Rank (AIR), candidates must meet two conditions simultaneously:

1. Aggregate cutoff: The total marks across both papers (Paper 1 + Paper 2) must be at or above the category-specific minimum aggregate threshold.

2. Subject-wise minimum: In each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), the combined score from Paper 1 and Paper 2 must be at or above a minimum subject-wise threshold.

A candidate who scores a very high total but fails to meet the subject minimum in even one subject will not qualify. This dual condition is unique to JEE Advanced and ensures well-rounded performance across all three subjects.

Qualifying JEE Advanced means you receive a rank and become eligible for IIT seat allotment through JoSAA 2026. However, getting a seat depends on your rank relative to available seats and your choice filling in JoSAA.
