BITS Pilani Cutoff 2026 – BITSAT Score Required

BITS Pilani, along with its Goa and Hyderabad campuses, is one of India's most reputed private engineering institutes, but its admission process is entirely separate from JoSAA and does not use JEE Main or JEE Advanced scores. Admission is based on BITSAT (BITS Admission Test), a computer-based online test conducted by BITS itself, typically in two sessions each year, with candidates able to take the best of both attempts.

BITSAT tests Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning, with a format and difficulty level that overlaps meaningfully with JEE Main preparation but requires additional practice for the English and Logical Reasoning sections, along with speed — the exam has 130 questions to be completed in 3 hours (with a possible 12-minute extension via bonus questions), making time management a critical skill.

A small number of exceptionally high-performing Class 12 board students are also considered for direct admission without appearing in BITSAT, under BITS's Direct Admission scheme, though this route accounts for a very small fraction of total seats and has extremely high board-percentage requirements (typically 95%+ across relevant subjects).

Since BITSAT is entirely independent of JEE Main/Advanced timelines, most serious BITS aspirants prepare for and take both exams in the same academic year, treating BITS as a strong parallel option to their JoSAA/CSAB engineering admission plans rather than a fallback.
