Detailed Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualifications

  • Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects
  • Minimum 45% marks in PCM aggregate for General/EWS/OBC candidates
  • Minimum 40% marks in PCM aggregate for SC/ST/PwD candidates
  • Must have passed each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually
  • Class 12 appearing candidates can also apply (subject to passing before admission)

Age Criteria

  • Must be at least 17 years of age by December 31, 2026
  • Born on or after July 1, 2004 to be eligible
  • No maximum age limit prescribed by WBJEEB
  • Age relaxation of 5 years for PwD candidates (if applicable)

Domicile & Residency

  • WB domicile required for Home State quota seats at MAKAUT colleges
  • Candidates must have studied Class 10 or 12 in West Bengal OR parents must be WB domicile
  • IIEST Shibpur (centrally funded) — domicile not required, open to all India
  • All India quota seats at certain WB colleges open to non-WB candidates with WBJEE rank

Who is NOT Eligible

  • Candidates who did not appear in WBJEE 2026 (unless applying for JEE Main quota seats)
  • Candidates who scored below 45% in PCM aggregate (General category)
  • Those born after July 1, 2009 (under 17 by Dec 31, 2026)
  • Candidates who did not pass Class 12 with PCM as compulsory subjects
  • Students who already hold a B.Tech/B.E. degree from any university
