MHT-CET Merit List 2026

How the merit list is prepared, how to check/download it, and how it feeds into CAP counselling

What Is the MHT-CET Merit List?

The MHT-CET merit list is the ranked list of all candidates who appeared for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test, ordered by their final normalized percentile score. This percentile — not the raw marks — is what's used throughout Maharashtra's CAP (Centralized Admission Process) for engineering, pharmacy and related admissions.

The final percentile generally combines CET performance with a defined weightage for 12th standard (HSC or equivalent board) marks, as per the formula notified officially each year by the State CET Cell. Because this weightage formula has changed in some past years, always verify the current year's exact calculation method from the official notification.

How to Check Your Merit List

  1. Visit the official Maharashtra CET Cell website (cetcell.mahacet.org) or the relevant CAP portal.
  2. Log in using your MHT-CET application ID/roll number and date of birth.
  3. View your overall percentile, category-wise rank, and PwD/Defence status if applicable.
  4. Download/print the merit list extract for your records before CAP registration.

From Merit List to Seat Allotment

Your merit list rank feeds directly into CAP seat allotment rounds, where it is matched against your filled preferences, category, and the Home University/Other University seat split at each college. Learn more about this distinction on our Home University vs Other University page, and about category-based reservation on our MHT-CET Reservation Policy 2026 page.

Once you know your percentile, use our MHT-CET College Predictor to estimate realistic college and branch options for CAP.

Frequently Asked Questions — MHT-CET Merit List 2026

Common questions about the MHT-CET 2026 merit list

1
How is the MHT-CET merit list 2026 prepared?
The MHT-CET merit list ranks candidates by their normalized percentile score, calculated using the best of the candidate's multiple MHT-CET attempts (if more than one session is held) combined with weightage given to the HSC/12th-standard marks as per the formula notified by the Maharashtra State CET Cell. The exact weightage formula (e.g., CET score weight vs 12th marks weight) is published officially each year — check the current notification rather than assuming the previous year's formula.
2
Where can I check my MHT-CET 2026 merit list?
The official merit list is published on the Maharashtra State CET Cell's website (cetcell.mahacet.org) and the relevant CAP portal. You typically log in with your application ID/roll number and date of birth to view your rank, percentile, and category-wise standing.
3
Is there a separate merit list for each category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)?
Yes, along with the overall General merit list, separate category-wise merit lists are prepared for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, etc.) as well as for special reservations like Defence, PwD, and others, in line with Maharashtra's reservation policy. See our dedicated page on MHT-CET reservation policy for details on category-wise seat allocation.
4
Does the merit list differ from the CAP seat allotment list?
Yes. The merit list is simply the ranked list of all eligible candidates by percentile/category. The CAP (Centralized Admission Process) seat allotment list is a separate document generated after each round of counselling, showing which specific candidates got allotted which college/branch based on their merit list rank, preferences filled, and seat availability (including Home University/Other University quota).
5
What should I do if there's an error in my MHT-CET merit list?
If you notice a discrepancy in your percentile, category, or personal details on the published merit list, you should raise a grievance through the official MHT-CET/CAP grievance redressal mechanism within the window specified by the CET Cell, typically before the CAP rounds begin — delays in reporting errors can affect your counselling options.
