KEAM Rank Predictor 2026

Estimate your expected KEAM Engineering rank from your entrance test marks and Class 12 score

How KEAM Rank Is Determined

KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) rank is not based purely on your entrance exam marks. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, computes a combined score using a notified weightage between your KEAM Engineering paper marks and your qualifying examination (Class 12) marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

This means two candidates with identical entrance marks can end up with different KEAM ranks if their Class 12 board marks differ. Our rank predictor factors in both components to give you a realistic estimated rank range rather than relying on entrance score alone.

Keep in mind that the exact weightage formula and normalization method are published by CEE Kerala closer to the result date, so treat any pre-result estimate as indicative, useful for planning rather than a guaranteed figure.

Illustrative KEAM Rank Bands and What They Typically Mean

Rank BandTypical College Tier
Top few hundredCollege of Engineering Trivandrum (CET), top government colleges
Low thousandsGovernment Engineering College Thrissur, TKM College of Engineering
Mid thousandsOther well-established government engineering colleges across Kerala
High thousands to tens of thousandsGovernment-aided and reputed private engineering colleges
Beyond that rangePrivate self-financing engineering colleges with more seats available

How KEAM Counselling Rounds Work

After KEAM results and the rank list are published, CEE Kerala conducts centralized counselling across multiple rounds, similar in structure to JoSAA — candidates fill option/choice lists ranking their preferred college-branch combinations, seats are allotted based on rank and category against those choices, and candidates can upgrade their allotment in subsequent rounds if a more-preferred option becomes available as higher-ranked candidates move elsewhere. Government colleges within the KEAM system include University-affiliated engineering colleges across Kerala, with College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) and a handful of other long-established institutions typically closing at the most competitive ranks for popular branches like Computer Science and Electronics.

As with most state counselling systems, Computer Science Engineering and allied branches (AI/ML, Data Science where offered) close at tighter ranks than core branches such as Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the same college. Candidates whose estimated rank falls short of their target college's CSE cutoff should consider core branches at that same institution, since the infrastructure, faculty, and long-term alumni network advantages of an established government college often extend across all its departments.

From Rank to College: What's Next

Once you have an estimated KEAM rank, the next step is translating it into realistic college and branch options. Use our KEAM Rank Predictor result alongside the dedicated KEAM college predictor tool that compares your rank and category against previous years' closing ranks for Kerala's government and private engineering colleges.

If you are also appearing for JEE Main this year, you may want to compare your options using our JEE Main College Predictor to see the full range of NIT/IIIT/GFTI possibilities alongside your KEAM-based choices.

Frequently Asked Questions – KEAM Rank Predictor 2026

Common questions about estimating your KEAM rank

1
How is the KEAM rank calculated from marks?
KEAM uses a weighted score combining your KEAM Engineering entrance test marks (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with your Class 12 (qualifying exam) marks, typically in a 50:50 or similar weightage as notified by CEE Kerala each year. Your final rank is based on this combined score, not on entrance marks alone.
2
Can I predict my exact KEAM rank before the official result?
Not exactly — the official rank depends on the final weightage formula, normalization, and the performance of all other candidates that year. What a rank predictor gives you is an estimated range based on your marks and how similar scores have historically translated into ranks, which is useful for early planning.
3
What marks are needed for a good KEAM rank for CSE?
Competitive CSE seats at top KEAM-participating colleges (like College of Engineering Trivandrum or Government Engineering College Thrissur) typically require candidates to be within the top few thousand ranks. Exact cutoffs vary by year, category, and college, so check our college predictor for a realistic, rank-based estimate.
4
Does the KEAM rank predictor account for category reservation?
The rank itself (CRL) is category-neutral, but once you have an estimated rank, category reservation (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, etc.) matters for college and branch allotment. Use the category filter in our KEAM college predictor tool after estimating your rank.
5
What should I do after estimating my KEAM rank?
Once you have an estimated rank, move to our KEAM College Predictor to see which government and private engineering colleges in Kerala you're likely to get, filtered by your category and branch preference, based on previous years' KEAM closing ranks.
6
What is the typical weightage split between KEAM entrance marks and Class 12 marks?
In recent years, CEE Kerala has generally used a weighted combination of the KEAM entrance test score and the qualifying examination (Class 12) marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with the entrance test historically carrying a larger share of the weightage than board marks. The exact ratio has been revised at different points, so candidates should verify the specific year's notified formula rather than assuming a fixed, unchanging split.
7
How many candidates typically appear for KEAM each year?
KEAM draws a few lakh candidates annually (Kerala's own engineering/pharmacy aspirant pool), which is considerably smaller than JEE Main's nationwide applicant base. This means KEAM rank numbers are naturally more compressed than JEE Main CRL numbers — a KEAM rank of a few thousand can represent a strong percentile position within Kerala's applicant pool, even though the absolute rank number looks small in isolation compared to all-India exams.
8
Does a higher score in Mathematics help more than Physics or Chemistry in KEAM?
KEAM does not typically weight Mathematics higher than Physics or Chemistry in the overall score calculation, unlike some other state exams (such as WBJEE) that give Mathematics extra weight in tie-breaking. However, performing well across all three subjects matters, since the combined entrance and qualifying-exam score determines your final rank — a lopsided performance (very strong in one subject, weak in another) generally produces a less competitive rank than balanced performance across all three.
9
Can I use my KEAM rank for colleges outside Kerala?
No. KEAM is a Kerala state-specific entrance exam, and its rank is used exclusively for admission to engineering, pharmacy, architecture, and other professional programs within Kerala's state counselling system, conducted by CEE Kerala. It is not accepted by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, or institutions in other states — those require a JEE Main or JEE Advanced rank instead. If you want pan-India options, use our JEE Main College Predictor alongside your KEAM planning.
