JEE Advanced Rank Predictor 2026

Estimate your JEE Advanced 2026 AIR from marks — marks vs rank analysis with 2025 trend data

JEE Advanced 2026 – How Rank is Determined

JEE Advanced 2026 rank (AIR — All India Rank) is computed from Paper 1 + Paper 2 aggregate marks. Both papers are equally weighted (180 marks each = 360 total). The IIT conducting JEE Advanced 2026 (IIT Roorkee) applies a two-step filter:

  1. Subject-wise qualifying marks: Minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths (separately) must be met
  2. Aggregate ranking: Candidates passing the subject filter are ranked by total marks

Qualifying marks vary by category. General category typically requires 10-12% in each subject and 35% aggregate. Actual thresholds are announced with results. In 2025, roughly 48,000 students qualified JEE Advanced — all 48,000 get a valid AIR.

Tie-breaking rule: Equal aggregate marks → compare Maths marks → if still equal, compare Physics marks → if still equal, consider age (older student gets better rank).

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about JEE Advanced rank prediction from marks

1
How is JEE Advanced rank calculated from marks?
JEE Advanced rank is based on total marks in Paper 1 + Paper 2. IIT uses the aggregate marks with subject-wise qualifying marks as a filter. After qualifying in all three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Maths), students are ranked by aggregate. Tie-breaking uses Maths marks first, then Physics, then Chemistry.
2
What marks are needed for a rank under 1000 in JEE Advanced 2026?
Based on JEE Advanced 2025, a rank under 1000 typically required 280-310+ out of 360 marks. The exact marks depend on paper difficulty. In 2025, the top 1000 rank cutoff was around 285-300 marks for General category.
3
What is the JEE Advanced 2025 marks vs rank for rank 5000?
For rank 5000 in JEE Advanced 2025, the approximate marks were 220-240 out of 360. This rank range gives access to CSE at IITs like Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Indore, plus all branches at top IITs.
4
How accurate are JEE Advanced rank predictors before results?
Rank predictors based on marks are estimates with ±500-1000 rank variation. Paper difficulty varies each year, affecting the marks-to-rank curve. Use them for rough college shortlisting, not as guaranteed outcomes.
5
What is the marks vs rank for IIT Bombay CSE eligibility in 2026?
IIT Bombay CSE (rank ~67 in 2025) requires approximately 330+ marks out of 360 in JEE Advanced. This is the top 0.5% of qualified candidates, making it one of the most competitive engineering seats in the world.
