CSAB Rank Predictor 2026

Find out what JEE Main rank you need for specific NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through CSAB 2026 special rounds

How CSAB Rank Prediction Works

A CSAB Rank Predictor answers two questions: (1) Given your rank, which institutes can you get?and (2) For a specific institute/branch, what rank do you need? Our tool handles both.

The prediction engine uses CSAB 2025 and 2024 closing ranks, accounting for:

  • Your JEE Main 2026 CRL (Common Rank List) rank
  • Category: General / OBC-NCL / EWS / SC / ST
  • Gender (supernumerary female seats at some institutes)
  • Home state vs. other state quota for NITs (50/50 split)
  • PwD reservation if applicable

Since CSAB 2026 fills seats left after JoSAA 2026's 5 rounds, cutoffs in CSAB are typically more lenient (higher numerically) than JoSAA cutoffs for the same program. This means candidates who narrowly missed a seat in JoSAA can often secure it through CSAB.

Key Factors That Affect CSAB 2026 Cutoffs

  • Seat matrix: CSAB seat matrix may differ from JoSAA — some institutes add seats specifically for CSAB rounds.
  • Candidate pool: CSAB attracts candidates who did not get their preferred seat in JoSAA, making competition intense for popular programs.
  • Float/Freeze in JoSAA: Candidates who froze in JoSAA Round 5 or 6 leave their earlier higher-choice seats vacant, opening them for CSAB.
  • NEUT reservation: 25% of CSAB seats at certain institutes are reserved for North East state and UT candidates.
  • Year-to-year variation: Cutoffs typically vary by ±5–15% from one year to the next.

Frequently Asked Questions – CSAB Rank Predictor 2026

Common questions about CSAB 2026 rank requirements and predictions

1
What rank do I need for CSE at NIT Silchar through CSAB 2026?
Based on CSAB 2025 data, CSE (Other State) at NIT Silchar closed around rank 8,000–9,500 in CSAB Round 2. For home state candidates from Assam, the closing rank is typically higher (worse rank) due to separate home state quota seats. Expect similar cutoffs in CSAB 2026 with a ±10% variation.
2
What rank is needed for IIIT Kancheepuram CSE in CSAB 2026?
IIIT Kancheepuram CSE closed around rank 20,000–25,000 in general category during CSAB 2025. It is a government IIIT with decent placements in the IT sector. Your rank should ideally be below 22,000 to have a good chance. Use our predictor for a more precise estimate based on your category and gender.
3
Is CSAB rank different from JoSAA rank?
No. The rank used in CSAB 2026 is the same JEE Main 2026 rank (CRL or category rank) used in JoSAA. There is no separate CSAB rank. The difference is that CSAB uses this rank to allocate only remaining NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats, not IIT seats. Cutoffs in CSAB are generally lower (higher rank numbers) than JoSAA for the same institute-branch combination.
4
Why are CSAB cutoffs different from JoSAA cutoffs for the same college?
CSAB deals with seats left after 5 JoSAA rounds. This means higher-ranked candidates have already been absorbed. Additionally, seat matrices may differ as some institutes offer extra seats in CSAB. The result is that CSAB closing ranks are often higher (numerically) than JoSAA, meaning candidates with weaker ranks can get seats through CSAB that they couldn't in JoSAA.
5
How accurate is a CSAB rank predictor?
A good CSAB rank predictor based on 2025 data is 80–90% accurate for non-CSE branches and 70–85% accurate for CSE/ECE branches. Accuracy drops for newer or less popular institutes where seat matrices fluctuate. Our predictor at jeecounselling.in uses multi-year CSAB data for the best estimates.
