CSAB Counselling 2027 – Overview & Expected Process

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts counselling for seats in NITs, IIITs, and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) that remain vacant after all rounds of JoSAA counselling conclude. This core purpose has not changed in years and there is no indication it will change for the 2027 cycle. CSAB 2027 is expected to be the next opportunity for JEE Main 2027 qualified candidates who could not secure a satisfactory seat through JoSAA.

Based on the pattern in 2026 and earlier years, CSAB is expected to run two Special Rounds — SR1 and SR2 — along with a separate CSAB NEUT round reserved for candidates from North-Eastern states and Union Territories. The exact 2027 dates, however, depend entirely on when JEE Main 2027, JEE Advanced 2027, and JoSAA 2027 conclude, none of which have been scheduled yet.

CSAB registration has always opened only after JoSAA's final round concludes, because CSAB works specifically on the residual seat pool left over from JoSAA. Since JEE Main 2027 has not been notified by NTA, and JEE Advanced 2027 depends on JEE Main 2027's qualifying cohort, there is currently no basis for predicting exact CSAB 2027 dates. Any website quoting specific 2027 CSAB dates this early should be treated with caution.

The most reliable approach is to track the chain of dependent announcements: JEE Main 2027 notification → JEE Main 2027 result → JEE Advanced 2027 → JoSAA 2027 rounds → CSAB 2027 registration. Each step typically follows the prior one by a predictable gap based on past years, but none of the actual calendar dates can be confirmed until NTA and IIT authorities release their respective notifications.
