CSAB 2026 UT Supernumerary Seats — Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
A dedicated CSAB channel reserving seats over and above sanctioned intake, specifically for candidates domiciled in these four Union Territories. Here's how it works and who's eligible.
What Is the CSAB Supernumerary Round?
Alongside the regular CSAB Special Rounds (which fill vacant NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats left over after JoSAA) and CSAB NEUT (which reserves seats for North-Eastern states and a broad set of Union Territories), CSAB runs a third, narrower channel: the Supernumerary Round. It reserves a small number of seats, additional to each institute's sanctioned intake, specifically for candidates whose State Code of Eligibility is Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, or Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
These seats exist because certain Union Territories historically lack their own technical institutions at scale, so the central government reserves supernumerary capacity at select NITs to guarantee admission pathways for their residents. Because the seats are supernumerary (over and above regular intake), they don't compete with or reduce the general seat pool — they exist purely for eligible UT-domicile candidates.
The Supernumerary Round runs after the CSAB Special Rounds conclude, following a similar registration and allotment mechanism through csab.nic.in, using the same JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List for merit.

Key Points to Remember
- You must be unallotted in the NIT+ system after JoSAA and CSAB Special Rounds to be eligible for this round.
- Seat count is very small — this is a targeted quota at just three institutes, not a large-scale backup option.
- Domicile proof must be genuine and verifiable — discrepancies flagged during document verification and left unresolved lead to disqualification.
- Check both Supernumerary and NEUT eligibility if your UT qualifies for both — the official brochure explains how simultaneous eligibility is handled.
