SRMJEEE 2026 – SRM Admission Guide

SRM Institute of Science and Technology · Exam Pattern, Branch-wise Cutoffs & Admission Process

Exam Snapshot

Exam dates April 2026 · Eligibility: 10+2 with PCM, 60% aggregate · Up to 3 attempts. See our SRM Chennai College Predictor for branch-wise cutoffs.

SRMJEEE (SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination) is conducted by SRM University for admission to B.Tech programmes across its campuses in Chennai (Kattankulathur), Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana. Like VITEEE and BITSAT, it is a private university's own entrance exam, run independently of JEE Main.

The exam has 125 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes covering Physics (40), Chemistry (40), Mathematics (40), English (5), and Aptitude-related questions, each worth 1 mark with no negative marking. A distinctive feature of SRMJEEE is that SRM allows candidates up to 3 attempts across different testing phases in the same year, with the best score across attempts used for admission — giving students more room to improve compared to single-attempt exams.

SRM Kattankulathur (Chennai) is SRM's flagship and most competitive campus, particularly for CSE and its specialised variants — AI/ML, Data Science, and Cyber Security — which have seen rising demand and correspondingly tighter cutoffs in recent years. SRM also accepts JEE Main scores as an alternative admission route for many programmes, giving candidates a second path in if their SRMJEEE attempt doesn't go as planned.

Frequently Asked Questions – SRMJEEE 2026

Common questions about SRMJEEE exam, cutoffs, and SRM admission

1
What is the exam pattern for SRMJEEE 2026?
SRMJEEE has 125 questions across Physics (40), Chemistry (40), Mathematics (40), English (5), and Aptitude, to be completed in 2 hours 30 minutes. Each correct answer earns 1 mark and there is no negative marking, so attempting all questions is the optimal strategy.
2
What is the eligibility for SRMJEEE 2026?
Candidates must have passed (or be appearing in) 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. There is no age limit for appearing in SRMJEEE, and International Baccalaureate (IB) and NIOS candidates are also eligible.
3
How many attempts are allowed in SRMJEEE?
SRM allows up to 3 attempts for SRMJEEE across different testing phases each year, and the best of your scores across attempts is considered for admission. This multi-attempt structure gives candidates more flexibility than a single-shot exam.
4
What SRMJEEE rank is needed for CSE at SRM Chennai (Kattankulathur)?
CSE at SRM Kattankulathur is the most competitive programme across all SRM campuses, typically requiring an SRMJEEE rank within the top 3,000-5,000, roughly equivalent to a 95+ JEE Main percentile where JEE Main scores are accepted. CSE specializations like AI/ML (top ~2,000-4,000) and Data Science/Cyber Security (top ~3,000-6,000) carry similarly high or even steeper cutoffs due to demand.
5
Does SRMJEEE have negative marking?
No, SRMJEEE does not have negative marking. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, so you should attempt all questions to maximise your score, similar to VITEEE's marking scheme.
6
Is SRM Chennai better than a lower-ranked NIT for CSE?
For CSE specifically, SRM Chennai's placement outcomes are broadly comparable to some lower-ranked NITs, though NITs retain a government-institute brand advantage relevant for GATE, PSU jobs, and certain government eligibility criteria. SRM offers a wider spread of specialised CSE variants (AI/ML, Data Science, Cyber Security) and a larger, more corporate-style campus environment.
