MHT-CET Score to Percentile Predictor 2026

Understand how your MHT-CET raw marks convert into a percentile — and what that means for your college chances

A note on this page's title: some students search using the term "ganitank" alongside MHT-CET. We could not verify this as an official MHT-CET term or tool from the State CET Cell — it appears to be informal usage referring to score/marks calculation. Rather than guess at an unverified feature, this page covers the real, documented mechanism: how MHT-CET converts your raw score into the percentile used for admissions.

How MHT-CET Score Becomes a Percentile

MHT-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) for engineering is conducted in multiple sessions across different days and shifts. Because no two shifts have exactly identical question papers, the State CET Cell applies equipercentile normalization to make scores comparable across all sessions. The result is your percentile score — a number between 0 and 100 representing what percentage of candidates you scored higher than, within your session group.

Your percentile, not your raw marks out of 200, is what's published on your scorecard and used for CAP (Centralized Admission Process) round seat allocation. This is why two candidates with different raw marks can end up with the same percentile, or why identical raw marks across sessions can translate into different percentiles.

The PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) group percentile is what matters for engineering admissions. If you also appeared for the Biology paper, that generates a separate PCB group percentile relevant to pharmacy and related courses.

From Percentile to College

Once you know your percentile (either from your official scorecard or a reasonable estimate), the next step is checking which colleges and branches it realistically qualifies you for. Use our MHT-CET College Predictor to compare your percentile and category against previous years' CAP round closing percentiles across Maharashtra's engineering colleges.

If you'd rather skip account creation while checking this, our MHT-CET predictor without login page covers that option, and you can also try the mobile-friendly predictor app if you're checking on your phone.

Frequently Asked Questions – MHT-CET Score to Percentile

Common questions about MHT-CET score normalization and percentile calculation

1
What does 'ganitank' mean in the context of MHT-CET?
"Ganitank" (गणितांक) is the Marathi/Hindi word for a numeric or mathematics-related score and is sometimes used loosely online when discussing MHT-CET score calculations. It is not an official MHT-CET terminology used by the State CET Cell. If you were looking for a specific named feature or tool called 'Ganitank', we could not verify any such official MHT-CET product — this page instead explains the actual, documented process: how your MHT-CET raw score converts into a percentile.
2
How is MHT-CET raw score converted into a percentile?
MHT-CET is conducted across multiple sessions with different question papers. The State CET Cell normalizes raw scores from each session using an equipercentile method, converting your raw marks into a percentile score (0 to 100) relative to all candidates across all sessions that year. This percentile, not your raw marks, is what's used for CAP round seat allocation.
3
Why can't I just compare raw marks between two MHT-CET candidates?
Because different candidates take the exam in different shifts with different (though equally difficult, in principle) question sets, raw marks aren't directly comparable across sessions. Normalization into a percentile corrects for slight variations in difficulty between shifts, which is why percentile — not raw score — determines your rank and college eligibility.
4
Does a higher raw score always mean a higher percentile?
Generally yes within the same session, but not necessarily across different sessions. A candidate scoring 150/200 in an easier shift might end up with a similar or lower percentile than a candidate scoring 140/200 in a tougher shift, due to normalization adjustments.
5
How much percentile do I need for a good engineering college in Maharashtra?
It varies widely by college, branch, category, and home university region. Top colleges for Computer Engineering/IT in Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur regions typically require percentiles in the high 90s (often 99+) for General category, while many other colleges and branches across Maharashtra accept percentiles well below that.
6
What should I do after estimating my MHT-CET percentile?
Once you have your percentile (from your official scorecard or a reasonable estimate based on past years' score-to-percentile patterns), use our MHT-CET College Predictor to see which colleges and branches you're likely to be eligible for across CAP rounds.
