JEE Mains College Predictor for NRI & DASA Students 2026

A guide for NRI, PIO, OCI and CIWG students using JEE Main scores for DASA admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs

Why DASA Needs a Different Predictor

If you are an NRI, PIO, OCI, or CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries) student planning to use your JEE Main score for admission into an Indian NIT, IIIT, or GFTI, you do not go through the regular JoSAA counselling that domestic JEE Main candidates use. Instead, admission happens through DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad), a separate scheme run by the Ministry of Education (NIT Trichy acts as the coordinating institute).

Because DASA uses a different merit calculation (normalized JEE Main/qualifying exam marks, not the JoSAA CRL rank) and a separate, much smaller supernumerary seat pool, the regular JEE Mains college predictor on this site — which is built on JoSAA CRL cutoff data — will not give you an accurate picture. You need the dedicated DASA predictor instead.

How to Predict Your DASA Admission Chances

Use our dedicated DASA JEE Main College Predictor to get predictions specific to the NRI/PIO/OCI/CIWG quota. It is built on DASA-specific historical cutoff data across the 24 participating NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs — not the JoSAA domestic cutoffs.

Before using the predictor, confirm your eligibility category (NRI / PIO / OCI / CIWG), since each sub-category can have a slightly different applicant pool and seat allocation. CIWG candidates in particular have a reserved sub-quota that is evaluated separately from general DASA applicants.

Keep in mind that DASA seat counts per branch are small (often single digits per institute-program), so year-to-year cutoff swings can be larger than in JoSAA. Treat any prediction as a planning estimate, and verify current seat matrix and eligibility details on the official DASA portal (dasanit.org) before finalizing your choices.

Frequently Asked Questions – NRI/DASA College Prediction

Common questions about using JEE Main scores for DASA admission

1
Can NRI students use the regular JEE Mains college predictor?
No. NRI, PIO, OCI, and CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries) students seeking admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through the DASA scheme compete on a separate quota with its own seat pool and cutoffs — not the JoSAA CRL rank list used by domestic students. You should use the dedicated DASA predictor rather than the standard JEE Mains college predictor.
2
Is JEE Main rank enough to get admission under DASA?
JEE Main score (not rank) is mandatory evidence of qualification under DASA since 2021, but the actual admission is based on normalized JEE Main marks or, for some categories, SAT/qualifying exam scores, evaluated against a separate DASA merit list — not the JoSAA CRL used for regular JEE Main counselling.
3
Which colleges can NRI students get through DASA?
DASA covers 24 NITs, several IIITs, and a number of GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes). Seat counts per branch are small — typically a handful of supernumerary seats per program — so competition within the NRI/PIO/OCI/CIWG pool is still meaningful, even though it's separate from the main JoSAA pool.
4
What is the difference between DASA and DASA-CIWG?
DASA-CIWG is a reserved sub-quota specifically for children of Indian workers in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, with its own seat allocation. General DASA (Non-CIWG) covers NRI, PIO, and OCI candidates from any country. Both use JEE Main scores but are evaluated against separate merit lists.
5
Do DASA seats affect the regular JoSAA seat matrix?
No. DASA seats are supernumerary — they sit outside the base seat matrix used for JoSAA counselling of domestic candidates. Filling or not filling DASA seats does not change the seat count available to regular JEE Main/Advanced candidates through JoSAA.
