IPU-affiliated colleges and NIT+ system (JoSAA) colleges serve different student profiles. NIT+ (via JoSAA) offers nationally recognised institutes with residential campuses, strong peer networks, and all-India brand recognition. IPU colleges offer Delhi-based commuter-friendly education with excellent local industry access but less national brand recognition.

For candidates with rank 20,000–50,000 who get a mid-tier NIT (non-CS branch) in JoSAA, IPU's NSUT or MAIT CSE might be a more career-optimal choice — especially for students preferring to stay in Delhi NCR. Always compare specific programs at both IPU and NIT+ before finalising.

Can I get IPU colleges using JEE Main score without appearing for IPU CET?
Yes. GGSIPU (IPU) accepts JEE Main score for B.Tech admissions via JAC Delhi counselling — no separate IPU CET is required for engineering. If you have a valid JEE Main score (qualified JEE Main), you can register for JAC Delhi and access all IPU-affiliated engineering colleges. IPU CET is required for some other programs (MBA, Law, etc.) but not for B.Tech engineering.

What is the IPU CET exam and how does it relate to JEE Main?
IPU CET (Common Entrance Test) is GGSIPU's own entrance exam, but for B.Tech engineering, the university uses JEE Main scores directly via JAC Delhi. IPU CET for engineering was discontinued in favour of JEE Main-based admissions to streamline the process. However, some private colleges affiliated with IPU may have their own admission criteria. For Delhi quota: approximately rank 12,000–18,000 CRL (~98.5–99.0 percentile). NSUT is the second-best option in JAC Delhi after DTU. For ECE: approximately 18,000–25,000 CRL. For other branches like Mechanical and Civil, the cutoffs are lower at 25,000–45,000 CRL.

Can out-of-state students get IPU colleges via JEE Main?
Yes. JAC Delhi has two quotas: Delhi (for students from Delhi state) and Outside Delhi (for all-India candidates). Outside Delhi quota has higher cutoffs (larger rank numbers) but is open to everyone. About 15–20% of seats are in the Outside Delhi quota. For rank 20,000–35,000 (Outside Delhi), you can access NSUT ECE, MAIT CSE, and similar options. IPU-affiliated colleges welcome students from all states through the JAC Delhi process.
