JEE Main 2027 Answer Key Process — How It Will Work

JEE Main 2027 has not happened. Here is the stable release, challenge, and score calculation process NTA follows.

Disclaimer: As of October 2026, JEE Main 2027 has not been announced — there is no confirmed session date, answer key release date, or challenge fee for 2027. This page explains the recurring process used in recent sessions, based on the JEE Main 2026 pattern. Verify exact 2027 details at jeemain.nta.nic.in once released.

The Answer Key Process — Overview

NTA has consistently published a provisional answer key on the official JEE Main website within a day or two of each session's last exam, followed by a short challenge window for candidates to contest specific answers upon payment of a per-question fee. Expert review of challenges then leads to a final answer key, which is used to compute official scores.

This sequence has remained procedurally stable across recent JEE Main sessions. For JEE Main 2027, the same sequence is expected to apply once session dates are announced — but no specific 2027 dates, fees, or figures exist yet.

Typical Timeline (Pattern-Based, Not 2027-Specific)

1

Based on that session's notified exam dates (not yet announced for 2027)

Typically same day as provisional key release

4

Challenge window closes

Historically 2-3 days after opening

5

Final answer key released

Typically 1-2 weeks after challenge window closes

6

Result declared

Based on the final answer key, announced on jeemain.nta.nic.in

How the Score Is Calculated

Score = (Correct MCQs × 4) − (Wrong MCQs × 1) + (Correct NVQs × 4)

This marking scheme has remained unchanged for several years and is expected to apply for 2027 unless the official information bulletin states otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions – JEE Main 2027 Answer Key

Common questions about the JEE Main 2027 answer key process

1
Has the JEE Main 2027 answer key been released?
No. JEE Main 2027 has not been conducted as of October 2026, and no session dates have been announced. This page explains the recurring answer key process NTA follows each session, based on the JEE Main 2026 pattern — it is not a 2027-specific release.
2
How does the answer key release and challenge process typically work?
Based on the pattern followed in recent sessions, NTA releases a provisional answer key within 1-2 days of the last exam date in a session, opens a challenge window (historically around 2-3 days with a per-question fee) for candidates to contest specific answers, reviews all challenges with an expert panel, and then releases a final answer key that is used for score computation.
3
Is the challenge fee likely to remain the same for JEE Main 2027?
Fee amounts and procedural details are set by NTA for each cycle and have historically been around ₹200 per question challenged in recent years, but this is not guaranteed for 2027. Always verify the exact fee from the official notification once JEE Main 2027 answer key details are released.
4
How is the JEE Main score calculated from the answer key?
The scoring formula has remained consistent for years: +4 for each correct MCQ, -1 for each incorrect MCQ, and +4 (with no negative marking) for correct Numerical Value Questions. This formula is expected to continue for 2027 unless NTA announces a change in the official information bulletin.
5
Should I trust the provisional answer key for estimating my score?
Based on past patterns, the provisional answer key has generally been accurate for most questions, though a small number of questions per shift are sometimes revised after the challenge process. Use it for an approximate estimate, but treat the final answer key as authoritative for your actual score.
