JEE Main 2026 Topper List – State Wise & Category Wise AIR 1
Session 1 & Session 2 toppers, 100 NTA score achievers, and state/category-wise rank holders for JEE Main 2026.
JEE Main 2026 – 100 NTA Score Achievers
JEE Main 2026 was conducted in two sessions — Session 1 in January/February and Session 2 in April — with approximately 14 lakh students registering across both sessions. NTA declared results for both sessions and released the final merit list based on the best NTA score achieved across the two attempts.
Multiple students achieved a perfect NTA score of 100 in JEE Main 2026, continuing the trend from previous years where 20–30 students secure this distinction per year. The NTA score of 100 does not mean 300/300 raw marks — it is a percentile score indicating the candidate performed better than 99.99% of all test-takers in that session.
The official topper list is published on jeemain.nta.nic.in along with the result. It includes candidates' names, NTA scores, and state/category information. Students who scored 100 percentile are recognized as session toppers by NTA.
State-Wise JEE Main 2026 Toppers
Three states consistently dominate the JEE Main topper list every year, and 2026 is no exception:
- Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: The combined AP+Telangana region produces a disproportionately high number of toppers, largely due to the well-developed coaching ecosystem in Hyderabad and Vijayawada that trains thousands of JEE aspirants each year.
- Rajasthan: Kota in Rajasthan is India's coaching capital. The dense concentration of JEE coaching institutes and the competitive peer environment of Kota collectively produce a large share of top 100 AIR holders every year.
- Delhi/NCR, Maharashtra, UP: Metro cities with access to strong coaching also contribute significantly to the topper list, especially in the top 500 AIR bracket.
Category-Wise AIR 1 Holders
NTA publishes separate category-wise rank lists for JEE Main 2026. The AIR 1 holders in each category are:
| Category | Typical NTA Score Range for AIR 1 |
|---|---|
| General (CRL) | 100 |
| OBC-NCL | 99.98–100 |
| SC | 99.90–99.97 |
| ST | 99.70–99.85 |
| PwD | 99.50+ |
Candidates belonging to multiple categories (e.g., OBC-NCL + PwD) appear in all applicable category rank lists. The best NTA score across sessions is used for all rank calculations.
What JEE Main Toppers Have in Common
Studying the preparation habits of JEE Main toppers reveals consistent patterns regardless of coaching institute or state:
- Deep NCERT foundation — most toppers claim NCERT is their Bible for Chemistry and a strong base for Physics and Maths.
- Regular full mock tests from November onwards — at least 3–5 mocks per week in the final 3 months.
- Error log maintenance — toppers track every mistake and ensure it is not repeated.
- Focus on speed and accuracy together — aiming for 85+ attempts with 90%+ accuracy in mocks.
