When Does CSAB 2026 Start?

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) 2026 registration and vacancy display opened on July 28, 2026 (per the official schedule) and closed on August 3, 2026. This followed JoSAA Round 5 final allotment (July 16), the NIT+ withdrawal window (July 16–20), and PAF payment/category restoration (July 22–24).

The full CSAB 2026 schedule is published on csab.nic.in: mock allotment was released July 31, registration/SREF payment closed Aug 3 (10 AM), choice locking deadline was Aug 5 (2 PM), the SR1 result was declared August 6, 2026, and the SR2 result — the final round — was declared August 12, 2026. CSAB 2026 counselling has now concluded.

CSAB 2026 expanded to 114 institutes (9 new GFTIs) with approximately 48,000 seats, compared to ~14,000 in 2025.

Log in with JEE Main credentials

Registered candidates used their JEE Main 2026 Application Number and password — the same credentials used for JoSAA on josaa.nic.in.

Complete registration details

Personal information, contact details, category, and a passport-size photograph were verified during registration.

Fill CSAB choice list

A separate choice list from JoSAA, filled and ordered by preference before locking.

Do I need to register separately for CSAB if I was already registered in JoSAA?
Yes. Even though CSAB uses the same login credentials as JoSAA (your JEE Main Application Number and password on csab.nic.in), you must separately visit csab.nic.in and complete the CSAB 2026 registration process. You will need to fill a new choice list — your JoSAA choices do not carry over to CSAB.

Who is eligible to register for CSAB 2026?
You are eligible for CSAB 2026 if: (1) You appeared in JEE Main 2026 and qualify the eligibility criteria for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, AND (2) You did NOT physically report to any institute after JoSAA (i.e., you either did not get a JoSAA seat, withdrew before physical reporting, or did not respond to your JoSAA allotment). Candidates who physically reported at a JoSAA-allotted institute are NOT eligible for CSAB.

Can I participate in CSAB if I froze my JoSAA seat?
If you froze your JoSAA seat and then withdrew from the counselling before physically reporting to the institute, you can still participate in CSAB. However, if you have already physically reported to and enrolled in your JoSAA-allotted institute, you are not eligible for CSAB. The key distinction is whether physical reporting has occurred.

What is the difference between csab.nic.in and josaa.nic.in?
josaa.nic.in is the portal for JoSAA counselling (IITs + NITs + IIITs + GFTIs, 5 rounds). csab.nic.in is the separate portal for CSAB counselling (NITs + IIITs + GFTIs only, 2 rounds). Both use the same JEE login credentials, but they are distinct portals with separate registration, choice lists, and allotment processes. Always verify you are on the correct portal when completing tasks.
