Understanding OJEE 2026 Round 2 Allotment
OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) counselling is conducted by the OJEE Board, Government of Odisha, covering 70,000+ engineering seats across government, aided, and private colleges in the state. Round 2 is the second seat allotment round, evaluating candidates who did not receive a Round 1 seat as well as those who accepted a Round 1 seat and opted to continue for an upgrade. If you haven't reviewed the OJEE 2026 counselling overview, it's worth understanding the full process first, since Round 2 builds directly on Round 1 outcomes.
Between Round 1 and Round 2, OJEE Board typically opens a choice-editing and withdrawal window, allowing candidates to add, remove, or reorder their college-branch preferences before Round 2 processing begins. Candidates who leave a narrow, unedited Round 1 list unchanged often miss colleges that only became realistically reachable once Round 1 vacancies were finalized — reviewing this list is one of the highest-leverage actions before Round 2.
Movement in Round 2 tends to favor private engineering colleges in Odisha, such as ITER Bhubaneswar (SOA University), Silicon Institute of Technology, GIET Gunupur, and CV Raman Global University, since government colleges like VSSUT Burla and CET Bhubaneswar typically fill their most competitive branches close to capacity in Round 1 itself. Remember that NIT Rourkela's state/home-state quota seats are not part of OJEE counselling at all — those are allotted separately through JoSAA using JEE Main rank.
Odisha's reservation framework — SC, ST, SEBC/OBC, EWS, and horizontal reservations for women and PwD candidates — continues to apply afresh in Round 2 exactly as in Round 1. Non-domicile candidates remain eligible to compete for general (UR) seats at self-financing colleges, but most reserved seats at government colleges are restricted to Odisha domicile holders.
