OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) is conducted by the OJEE Board, Government of Odisha, for admission to engineering, pharmacy, MBA, MCA and lateral entry programmes at government and private colleges in Odisha. The official portal is ojee.nic.in.

For engineering (B.Tech) admissions, OJEE covers over 70,000+ seats across 100+ engineering colleges in Odisha. The rank used for counselling is based on the OJEE exam score. NIT Rourkela, being a centrally funded institute, allots its home-state quota seats through JoSAA (not OJEE) using JEE Main rank.

Do I need OJEE rank or JEE Main rank for Odisha engineering admission?

It depends on the college. NIT Rourkela's home state/state quota seats are filled through JoSAA using JEE Main rank — not through OJEE. For all other Odisha state colleges (government and private), you need an OJEE rank. If you haven't appeared in OJEE 2026 but have a JEE Main rank, you can only be considered for NIT Rourkela through JoSAA, not other Odisha colleges. JEE Main rank alone does not directly qualify for OJEE state colleges.

Is Odisha domicile required for OJEE 2026 counselling?

Odisha domicile is required to claim reservation benefits (UR/SC/ST/OBC/SEBC categories) in Odisha state college counselling through OJEE. Non-domicile candidates (from other states) can also participate in OJEE counselling but compete only in the general (non-reserved/UR) seats in self-financing colleges. Most government college reserved seats are exclusively for Odisha domicile candidates.

How many counselling rounds does OJEE 2026 have?

OJEE 2026 counselling typically has 3–4 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and a Spot Admission round. Each round has online registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and fee payment phases. Candidates who upgrade their seats in subsequent rounds must surrender their previous allotment. Spot admission rounds are usually held offline at designated centres for remaining vacant seats.

What is lateral entry through OJEE 2026?

Lateral entry through OJEE 2026 allows diploma holders (3-year engineering diploma from recognized polytechnics) to get direct admission to 2nd year (3rd semester) of B.Tech programmes in Odisha. OJEE conducts a separate lateral entry exam and counselling for this. Approximately 10% of seats in each branch are reserved for lateral entry candidates at participating colleges.
