GUJCET College Predictor 2026 – Admission Chances Guide

How ACPC counselling allots Gujarat engineering seats, cutoff trends by college, and how to realistically estimate your admission chances

How GUJCET Admissions Work

GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) scores feed into ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) online counselling for engineering admissions across Gujarat's government, GTU-affiliated, and private colleges. Unlike JEE Main, GUJCET admission is not based on your raw exam score alone — it's based on a merit rank computed from a weighted combination of your GUJCET marks and Class 12 board marks.

There is no single official "predictor tool" published by ACPC. Students instead rely on previous years' merit-based closing ranks published after each counselling round to gauge where they stand. This page explains that process honestly so you know what data to look for and how to interpret it, rather than offering a fabricated automated prediction.

What Determines Your Admission Chances

Three factors determine where you can realistically get admission in Gujarat engineering colleges:

  • Merit rank — derived from GUJCET + board marks, this decides your position relative to other candidates.
  • Category — General, EWS, SC, ST, OBC and other state-specific categories each have separate reserved seats and cutoffs.
  • Branch and college preference — CSE/IT at top government colleges close at far better (lower) merit ranks than core branches at newer private institutes.

To estimate your chances, compare your expected merit rank against the previous year's closing rank for your target college-branch combination, published on the ACPC portal after each round. A margin of safety (aim for ranks comfortably better than last year's closing rank) is wise since cutoffs can tighten year to year as more students register.

Tips for GUJCET 2026 Counselling

Fill your ACPC choice list broadly across multiple colleges and branches rather than only the most popular options — this maximizes your chances of securing a seat within your preferred rounds. Track official cutoff releases closely; see our GUJCET Cutoff 2026 page for year-wise trends, and our GUJCET Rank Predictor 2026 page for how merit rank is calculated from your scores.

If you also hold a JEE Main rank and are considering NITs, IIITs or GFTIs outside Gujarat, our JEE Main College Predictor uses real multi-year JoSAA cutoff data — read how accurate college predictors really are before relying on any tool's output.

Frequently Asked Questions – GUJCET College Predictor 2026

Common questions about predicting GUJCET/ACPC admission chances

1
Is there an official GUJCET college predictor tool?
ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses), which conducts Gujarat engineering admissions, does not publish an official 'predictor' tool. What it does publish is previous-year merit list and cutoff data for every participating college and branch. The most reliable way to predict your chances is to compare your GUJCET percentile/merit rank against last year's closing merit numbers for your target colleges.
2
How is the GUJCET merit rank calculated?
Gujarat uses a weighted formula combining GUJCET marks (out of 120, for Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and Class 12 board marks, typically in a 50:50 ratio (subject to the latest ACPC notification for 2026). This combined score generates your merit rank, which is used for ACPC online counselling, not your raw GUJCET score alone.
3
What rank/percentile is needed for GTU-affiliated government colleges?
Top government colleges like L.D. College of Engineering and government engineering colleges in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara typically close CSE/IT admissions at a merit rank corresponding to the top 1-3% of candidates. Core branches (Mechanical, Civil) and newer/private institutes have relatively relaxed cutoffs, often accepting candidates across a much wider merit range.
4
Does category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) affect GUJCET admission chances?
Yes. ACPC maintains separate category-wise merit lists and seat reservations as per Gujarat government policy. Reserved category candidates typically get admission at merit ranks significantly relaxed compared to the General category, similar to how JoSAA and other state counselling bodies operate.
5
How many rounds does ACPC counselling have?
ACPC engineering admissions typically run through multiple online choice-filling and seat allotment rounds (usually 2-3 main rounds followed by an institute-level round for vacant seats), similar in structure to JoSAA. Each round, uncommitted seats get added back and cutoffs can shift, so re-checking your options every round matters.
6
Can I use JEE Main or JoSAA predictor logic for GUJCET?
No — GUJCET/ACPC counselling runs on an independent merit formula and a separate seat matrix limited to Gujarat state colleges, so JEE Main-based predictors (like our JEE Main College Predictor) don't apply. If you also have a JEE Main rank, use that tool separately for NIT/IIIT/GFTI options under JoSAA.
