COMEDK 2026 Round 2 Seat Allotment

Round 1 allotment was declared July 17, 2026. Here's what to expect from Round 2 — the Upgrade option, NRI/management quota nuances specific to COMEDK's private-college ecosystem, and what to do once your result is out.

Round 1 allotment was declared July 17, 2026; Round 2 (KKR category) choice filling ran August 5–6, and the Round 2 seat allotment result was declared on August 7, 2026 at comedk.org. Always verify current status on comedk.org or our COMEDK 2026 dates & schedule page.

Understanding COMEDK 2026 Round 2 Allotment

COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) runs its own independent counselling — UGET — for admission to roughly 150+ private engineering colleges in Karnataka, distinct from KEA's KCET counselling. Unlike KCET, COMEDK has no Karnataka domicile requirement: candidates from any Indian state can register, making it one of the largest all-India private-college counselling systems. Round 2 is the second of four planned rounds, following the Round 1 seat allotment declared on July 17, 2026.

Round 2 processes two categories of candidates: those who accepted a Round 1 seat and selected the Upgrade option (equivalent to Float in other counsellings), and those who registered but received no allotment in Round 1. Because Upgrade guarantees you can never end up worse off than your Round 1 seat — you only move if a genuinely better option opens up — nearly every candidate who isn't already at their first-choice college and branch should select it rather than Freeze prematurely.

A nuance specific to COMEDK is how its seat matrix interacts with NRI and management quota seats. COMEDK's centralized counselling allots only the Convener Quota (merit-based) share of each participating college's sanctioned intake. Many private colleges additionally reserve seats for NRI/foreign-national candidates and management-quota admissions, which those colleges fill directly and outside the COMEDK portal entirely. This means the "vacancy" figures you see in the Round 2 seat matrix reflect only the COMEDK-allotted share — a college's genuine total capacity, including NRI and management seats, is always larger than what COMEDK counselling shows.

Institute-tier dynamics shift meaningfully between Round 1 and Round 2. Flagship colleges such as RV College of Engineering, MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, and PES University typically fill their top CSE/ISE branches almost entirely in Round 1 for general-category candidates. Round 2 movement tends to concentrate in colleges just outside this top tier, newer campuses, and traditionally less-preferred branches — along with any seats vacated by Round 1 allottees who either upgraded to a different COMEDK college or failed to complete reporting. If your target is a flagship college's CSE seat, Round 1 preference-list quality matters far more than hoping for a Round 2 opening. For a broader look at how COMEDK stacks up against Karnataka's other engineering entrance route, see our COMEDK vs KCET predictor guide.

Reporting and fee-payment deadlines after each COMEDK round are typically tight — often just a few days — so candidates who receive a Round 2 upgrade must act quickly to pay any fee difference and complete document re-verification if their allotted college has changed. Missing this window forfeits the newly allotted seat, though it does not cancel your original Round 1 acceptance if you had already confirmed it beforehand.

Steps to Follow After Round 2 Result

1

Check Your Round 2 Allotment

Log in to comedk.org with your UGET registration credentials. Download your Round 2 allotment letter and check the allotted college, branch, and fee category.

2

Compare with Your Round 1 Seat

If upgraded, your Round 1 seat is released automatically once you accept the new one. If no upgrade came through, your Round 1 seat and payment carry forward unchanged.

3

Pay Fee Difference (if upgraded)

If you moved to a new college, pay any applicable fee difference and complete document re-verification within the given deadline — typically just a few days.

4

Select Upgrade or Freeze for Round 3

Freeze only if fully satisfied with your Round 2 seat. Otherwise select Upgrade again to remain eligible for Round 3 without any risk of losing your current seat.

5

Report to the Allotted College

Report physically with all original documents (marksheets, COMEDK rank card, category certificates, photographs) within the reporting window stated in your allotment letter.

Upgrade vs Freeze — Quick Reference

Upgrade

Keep your Round 2 seat as a guaranteed backup while COMEDK tries for a higher-preference option in Round 3. You can never end up worse off — recommended unless you're already at your first-choice college and branch.

Freeze

Confirm your Round 2 seat permanently and exit further COMEDK rounds. Choose this only if you're fully satisfied and want to lock in admission immediately.

Round 2 Strategy Tips

  • Choose Upgrade unless it's your dream seat — there's no downside since you can never lose your current allotment by upgrading.
  • Remember COMEDK vacancy figures exclude NRI/management quota seats — a college's genuine total capacity is always larger than what the Round 2 seat matrix shows.
  • Act fast on fee payment and reporting — COMEDK deadlines after each round are typically just a few days.
  • Two more rounds remain after Round 2 — see our Round 3 allotment guide for what typically opens up next.

COMEDK 2026 Round 2 Allotment – FAQs

Common questions about COMEDK 2026 Round 2 seat allotment and next steps

1
When is the COMEDK 2026 Round 2 allotment result expected?
COMEDK UGET 2026 Round 1 seat allotment was declared on July 17, 2026 (4 PM) at comedk.org. Round 2 (KKR category) choice filling ran August 5–6, 2026, and the Round 2 seat allotment result was declared on August 7, 2026 (4 PM) at comedk.org, with reporting through August 10–11, 2026.
2
How do I check my COMEDK 2026 Round 2 allotment result?
Log in to comedk.org with your COMEDK UGET 2026 registration number and password, navigate to the 'Round 2 Seat Allotment' tab, and download your allotment letter showing the allotted college, branch, and fee category. If you exercised the Upgrade option after Round 1, compare this result carefully against your Round 1 seat before making any decision.
3
What is the 'Upgrade' option in COMEDK Round 2, and is it risk-free?
The Upgrade option in COMEDK Round 2 lets candidates who accepted a Round 1 seat try for a better college or branch while their Round 1 seat is held as a guaranteed backup. If a higher-preference option becomes available based on your COMEDK rank and choices, you move to it automatically; if not, you retain your Round 1 seat with no penalty. This makes Upgrade essentially risk-free — the only way to lose your Round 1 seat is by missing a fee payment or reporting deadline.
4
Does NRI or management quota affect COMEDK Round 2 seat availability?
COMEDK's centralized counselling (UGET) primarily allots the general merit-based Convener Quota seats at private engineering colleges in Karnataka; a separate share of seats at many of these same colleges is set aside for NRI/foreign national candidates and management quota, which is filled directly by the college management outside the COMEDK portal. If a college does not fill its full sanctioned intake through COMEDK Rounds 1–4, any leftover seats (after Spot Admission) may occasionally be absorbed into the management quota pool — so Round 2 vacancy counts you see on comedk.org reflect only the Convener Quota share, not the college's total capacity.
5
Which COMEDK colleges show the most movement in Round 2?
Top-demand colleges like RV College of Engineering, MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, and PES University typically fill their CSE/ISE branches almost entirely in Round 1 itself. Round 2 movement is more commonly seen in colleges slightly outside the top tier, newer campuses, and less-preferred branches even at well-known institutes — as well as any seats vacated by Round 1 allottees who chose to upgrade elsewhere or didn't report.
6
What should I do if I don't get an upgrade in COMEDK Round 2?
If you don't receive an upgrade in Round 2, you simply retain your Round 1 seat — there is no need to take any further action beyond what you already completed (document verification, fee payment, reporting). You remain automatically eligible for Round 3 if you continue choosing Upgrade in each subsequent round.
7
What is the seat acceptance fee/process for a COMEDK Round 2 upgrade?
If you receive an upgraded seat in Round 2, you typically need to pay any fee difference (the gap between your Round 1 and Round 2 college's fee structure) and complete fresh document verification if your allotted college changed. Check your Round 2 allotment letter for the exact amount and deadline — COMEDK reporting windows after each round are typically short, often just a few days.
