About NIT Meghalaya

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) was established in 2010 as part of the Government of India's initiative to set up new NITs in northeastern states. Located in Shillong — known as the Scotland of the East — the campus enjoys a cool, pleasant climate year-round.

NIT Meghalaya offers B.Tech programmes in Computer Science, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. The institute is actively expanding its academic programmes and research facilities. As a newer NIT, it benefits from modern curriculum and faculty from reputed institutes.

For JoSAA 2026, the institute follows the standard 50% Home State (Meghalaya) and 50% Other State split. Since Meghalaya is a smaller state, Other State candidates find the cutoffs relatively more accessible. JoSAA 2026 begins June 2, 2026.
