JKCEET 2026 College Predictor & Admission Guide

Understand the JKCEET exam, counselling process, and how to estimate your admission chances in J&K colleges

What Is JKCEET?

JKCEET (Jammu & Kashmir Common Entrance Test) is conducted by JKBOPEE (Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations) for admission to engineering, technology, and pharmacy degree programmes in colleges within Jammu & Kashmir. It is distinct from JEE Main — it's a state-level exam for the state's own college seats, not a route into centrally-funded institutes like NITs or IITs (except where NIT Srinagar reserves specific state-category seats, which is handled separately from its main JoSAA allotment).

Students in J&K frequently appear for both JEE Main (for JoSAA-counselled NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats nationally) and JKCEET (for state college seats), since the two cover different, mostly non-overlapping sets of institutes.

Why There's No Automated Predictor Here — Yet

Unlike JoSAA, which publishes a large, standardised seat matrix across 31 NITs, 26 IIITs and 54+ GFTIs that's well suited to an automated rank-matching tool, JKCEET's participating institute list and seat matrix is smaller, more localised, and the published data formats vary year to year. We'd rather give you an honest, informational guide than a tool built on incomplete or outdated figures. For the most reliable estimate, compare your rank directly against the latest JKBOPEE opening/closing rank bulletin.

If you're also applying through JEE Main for national counselling, use our JEE Main College Predictor to check your NIT/IIIT/GFTI chances alongside your JKCEET options.

How to Estimate Your JKCEET Chances

  • Download the latest JKBOPEE information brochure for the current year's participating colleges and seat matrix.
  • Compare your merit rank against last year's opening/closing ranks for your target branch and category.
  • Account for reserved category seats (Open Merit, SC/ST, RBA, ALC, and others specific to J&K) which have separate, usually more relaxed, cutoffs.
  • Register and fill choices only through the official JKBOPEE counselling portal.

Frequently Asked Questions – JKCEET 2026

Common questions about the JKCEET exam and counselling process

1
What is JKCEET?
JKCEET (Jammu & Kashmir Common Entrance Test) is the state-level entrance exam conducted by JKBOPEE (J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations) for admission to undergraduate engineering, technology and pharmacy programmes in colleges located in Jammu & Kashmir.
2
Is there a JKCEET college predictor tool?
We don't currently run a dedicated automated JKCEET predictor tool, because JKCEET uses a smaller, state-specific seat matrix compared to national-level counselling like JoSAA. Instead, this page is an informational guide to help you understand the exam, counselling process, and how to estimate your chances using official JKBOPEE merit lists and previous years' cutoffs.
3
Which colleges accept JKCEET scores?
JKCEET scores are accepted by government and private engineering, technology and pharmacy colleges within Jammu & Kashmir affiliated to institutions recognised by JKBOPEE, including NIT Srinagar's state quota seats in some categories (NIT Srinagar's main JoSAA seats are separate and use JEE Main rank). Always check the current year's JKBOPEE information brochure for the exact list of participating institutes.
4
How do I estimate my admission chances with a JKCEET rank?
Compare your JKCEET merit rank/score against the previous year's opening and closing ranks published by JKBOPEE for your target college and branch. Since seat numbers are limited and vary by category (Open Merit, Reserved Categories, PwD), closing ranks can shift meaningfully year to year, so treat last year's cutoffs as a reference range rather than a guarantee.
5
Is JKCEET the same as JEE Main for J&K students?
No. JEE Main is the national exam used for JoSAA counselling at NITs, IITs, IIITs and GFTIs across India, including NIT Srinagar's central-quota seats. JKCEET is a separate, J&K-specific state exam used for state-quota seats at J&K colleges. Students from J&K often appear for both exams to maximize their options.
6
Where do I register for JKCEET 2026 counselling?
Registration, choice filling, and seat allotment for JKCEET are managed through the official JKBOPEE website. Always use the official portal for registration and verify dates and documents required, since counselling schedules can change year to year.
