About IIT Bombay
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), established in 1958, is located in Powai, Mumbai. It is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutions in India and among the top 150 universities globally. NIRF Engineering Ranking 2024: Rank 3.
IIT Bombay offers B.Tech, B.Tech + M.Tech (Dual Degree), and M.Sc programmes across engineering, sciences, design, and humanities. The institute is particularly well-regarded for its Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Aerospace programmes.
Admission to IIT Bombay is through JoSAA counselling based on JEE Advanced rank. With approximately 880 B.Tech seats, competition is exceptionally high. In 2025, approximately 56,880 students qualified JEE Advanced, all competing for seats across 23 IITs.
