About NIT Jamshedpur

National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT JSR), established in 1960 as Regional Engineering College Jamshedpur, is one of the oldest and most prestigious NITs in India. Located in the industrial city of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand — home to the Tata Steel complex — the institute has a strong legacy in metallurgical and mechanical engineering.

NIT Jamshedpur offers B.Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, and Production & Industrial Engineering. The institute is known for excellent industry connections, particularly with TATA companies, HEC, and SAIL, offering strong placement opportunities for core engineering branches.

For JoSAA 2026, NIT Jamshedpur admissions follow the 50% Home State (Jharkhand) and 50% Other State split. JoSAA 2026 counselling begins June 2, 2026. The official 2026 cutoffs will be published after each round; the figures below are projections based on JoSAA 2025 Round 6 closing ranks.
