JEE Rank Predictor 2026

Estimate Your JEE Main All India Rank from Score/Percentile · Official NTA Conversion Table

Score, Percentile, and Rank Are Three Different Things

Your raw marks (out of 300) get converted to a percentile (normalized within your shift), and the percentile is then converted to an All India Rank by counting how many candidates scored the same or higher. JoSAA, CSAB and state counselling all use rank, not percentile, for seat allotment.

JEE Main 2026 was conducted across two sessions — Session 1 in January and Session 2 in April — with the Session 2 result declared on April 20, 2026. NTA computes each candidate's final rank using the best percentile score across both sessions. Because different shifts within the same session can vary slightly in difficulty, NTA normalizes raw marks into a percentile score before computing rank, so two candidates with different raw marks in different shifts can end up with the same percentile and rank.

To estimate your rank, you need your percentile score (visible on your NTA scorecard) or your raw marks along with the shift you appeared in. Rank estimation is most reliable at the extremes of the distribution — for example, in the top 99.9+ percentile band, each 0.01 percentile point corresponds to only a handful of candidates, so rank estimates are tight. In the middle of the distribution (85-95 percentile), candidate density is much higher, so the same percentile range can span tens of thousands of ranks.

Frequently Asked Questions – JEE Rank Predictor 2026

Common questions about converting JEE Main score/percentile to All India Rank

1
How do I convert my JEE Main score to All India Rank (AIR)?
Your JEE Main scorecard shows an NTA score (percentile), not raw marks. NTA converts your raw marks into a percentile within your session/shift to normalize for difficulty variation across shifts, then ranks all candidates by their best percentile across Session 1 and Session 2. A score of 100/300 in JEE Main 2026 corresponds to roughly the 95.0 percentile mark and an All India Rank near 61,650, based on the official NTA score-percentile-rank table.
2
What rank corresponds to 99 percentile in JEE Main 2026?
Around 99 percentile in JEE Main 2026 corresponds to an All India Rank in the range of roughly 12,000-13,500, based on the official NTA conversion table. The exact rank varies slightly year to year depending on the total number of candidates who appeared, since rank is a count-based position while percentile is a normalized score.
3
Is JEE Main rank the same as JEE Main percentile?
No. Percentile is a normalized score showing what percentage of candidates you scored equal to or better than in your session — it does not change even if the same score is repeated across shifts of different difficulty. Rank (All India Rank or AIR) is your actual position among all candidates nationwide, calculated after merging results from both sessions using the best percentile. Rank is what JoSAA, CSAB and state counselling authorities use for seat allotment — not percentile directly.
4
Why does my rank change between Session 1 and Session 2?
NTA computes your final All India Rank using whichever of your two session scores (Session 1 in January or Session 2 in April) yields the higher percentile. If your Session 2 percentile was better than Session 1, your final rank is based on Session 2, and vice versa. This is why many candidates see a rank improvement after Session 2 results are declared even if their raw marks were similar.
5
How accurate is a rank predictor before the official result?
A rank predictor using the previous year's official percentile-rank data or the current year's provisional answer-key-based percentile is a reasonable estimate, typically within a few hundred to a few thousand ranks depending on percentile range — closer to exact near the top percentiles (99.9+) and wider in the middle range (85-95 percentile) where the candidate density is higher and small percentile differences move rank by tens of thousands.
6
Where can I check my official JEE Main 2026 rank?
Your official All India Rank for JEE Main 2026 is available on your NTA scorecard, downloadable from jeemain.nta.nic.in using your application number and password or date of birth. The scorecard also shows your category rank (General/EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST) which is used for reserved-category seat allotment in JoSAA and CSAB counselling.

Tip

Rank estimates near the top percentiles (99.9+) are tight — within a few dozen ranks. In the 85-95 percentile band, always treat the estimate as a range, not an exact number.
