Common Confusion: IIIT ≠ IIT

One of the most persistent misconceptions among JEE aspirants is confusing IIITs with IITs. These are completely different institutions:

Can I fill choices for NITs in JoSAA with only a JEE Main rank?

Can a JEE Main-only candidate apply to IITs through JoSAA?

No, IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are entirely different institutions. IITs are older, more prestigious, and require JEE Advanced.
