JoSAA 2026 counselling has concluded with all 5 seat allotment rounds complete. See the full official timeline from registration to the final Round 5 allotment.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) released its official 2026 counselling schedule and has now completed the process, which was conducted in 5 rounds for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Online registration and choice filling opened on June 2, 2026 and closed on June 11, 2026, following the declaration of JEE Advanced 2026 results. Candidates can still verify past dates on the official JoSAA portal - josaa.nic.in.

The first seat allotment result was declared on June 13, 2026. Candidates who were allotted seats accepted them by paying the prescribed seat acceptance fee through online mode. This was followed by Round 2 on June 30, Round 3 on July 6, Round 4 on July 10, and the fifth and final round on July 16, 2026.

Candidates who were not satisfied with their allotted seat could opt for upward movement by floating their choices across rounds. However, they had to accept the currently allotted seat to remain in the counselling process.

Document verification was carried out at the reporting centers after seat acceptance, with candidates required to carry original documents along with self-attested photocopies for verification.

After the final Round 5 allotment on July 16, 2026, candidates reported to their allotted institute for admission with all original documents and the admission fee receipt. Candidates who did not secure a seat, or remain unsatisfied, can now look to CSAB Special Rounds for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The academic session 2026-27 is expected to commence in August 2026.
