Frequently Asked Questions – AP EAMCET 2026 Seat Matrix

Common questions about AP EAMCET 2026 seats, categories, and quotas

1
How many total engineering seats are there in AP EAMCET 2026 counselling?
Approximately 1.5 lakh (1,50,000) engineering seats are available through AP EAMCET (APEAPCET) 2026 counselling across 600+ engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Of these, about 70–75% fall under convener quota (government allotment through APSCHE) and 25–30% are management quota seats. The exact number may vary based on new college approvals and seat rationalization by AICTE.
2
What is the category-wise reservation in AP EAMCET 2026?
AP EAMCET 2026 follows the AP government reservation policy: OC (Open Competition) — 51% (includes EWS — 10% within OC), BC-A — 7%, BC-B — 10%, BC-C — 1%, BC-D — 7%, BC-E — 4%, SC — 15%, ST — 6%. PH (Differently Abled) — 3% horizontal reservation across all categories. NCC — 0.5% horizontal. Sports — 0.5% horizontal. Categories are applied separately to local and non-local seats.
3
What is the local vs non-local seat split in AP engineering colleges?
In Andhra Pradesh engineering colleges, 70% of convener quota seats are reserved for local candidates (candidates who studied in that university region for 4 years during Class 6–10) and 30% are open to non-local candidates (any AP candidate). Local areas are determined by the three university zones: JNTUA (Ananthapuramu/Kurnool/Nellore belt), JNTUK (Krishna/Godavari/Coastal region), and AU (Visakhapatnam region).
4
What is convener quota vs management quota in AP engineering colleges?
Convener quota (also called A-Category) seats are filled through APSCHE's centralized AP EAMCET counselling at cets.apsche.ap.gov.in. Management quota (B-Category) seats — typically 15% in government-aided and up to 35% in unaided private colleges — are filled by the college management directly. NRI quota is typically 5% at private colleges. The convener quota offers transparent rank-based allotment, while management quota admissions are done at college level.
5
Does RGUKT (IIIT) come under AP EAMCET 2026 counselling?
RGUKT (Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies) has its own separate admission process based on Class 10 SSC marks. It is NOT part of AP EAMCET counselling. RGUKT's Basar, RK Valley, Nuzvid, and Ongole campuses admit students after Class 10 into a 6-year integrated B.Tech programme. Students who want RGUKT must apply separately through the RGUKT official portal.
