AP EAMCET 2026 Web Options (Choice Filling) Guide

Strategy, tips & step-by-step process for exercising web options on cets.apsche.ap.gov.in

What are Web Options in AP EAMCET Counselling?

Unlike JEE Main (JoSAA/CSAB) or TSEAMCET which use the term "choice filling", AP EAMCET 2026 counselling calls it exercising web options. This is done on the official portal cets.apsche.ap.gov.in. Candidates must list their preferred college-branch combinations in priority order after certificate verification.

The AP EAMCET seat allotment algorithm processes all candidates simultaneously based on rank. The system tries to give you the highest-priority web option for which you are eligible given your rank, category, and local area status. This makes the ordering of your web options critically important.

How to Exercise Web Options – Step by Step

1

Login to cets.apsche.ap.gov.in

Use your EAPCET hall ticket number, date of birth, and registered mobile number to log in during the web options window.

2

Confirm Certificate Verification Status

Ensure your certificate verification is complete (either online or at an HLC). Web options can only be exercised after verification.

3

Search for Colleges & Branches

Use the search/filter feature to find colleges by district, university affiliation, branch, and type (Govt/Private/Aided). You can also browse all available options.

4

Add Preferred Options in Priority Order

Add college-branch combinations to your list. The first option is your top priority. Drag and rearrange to set your preferred order carefully.

5

Add at Least 30–50 Options

More options = better chances. Add aspirational choices at the top, safe choices in the middle, and fallback options at the bottom. Quality + quantity matters.

6

Save Regularly

Click 'Save' to save your current list. You can continue editing until you lock. Saving does not finalize your choices.

7

Review and Lock Before Deadline

Review your full list, check the order once more, then click 'Lock'. Locking is irreversible. Missing the lock deadline with only saved options may result in those saved options being considered final.

Local Area vs Non-Local Seats – What You Must Know

Andhra Pradesh has a 70:30 local-non-local seat reservation for engineering colleges. Understanding this is crucial for your web options strategy.

AspectLocal Candidates (70%)Non-Local (30%)
Seat Share70% of seats in each college30% of seats in each college
EligibilityStudied 4 yrs in that university zoneAny candidate from AP or outside
Rank CompetitionCompete only with local candidatesCompete with all candidates
AdvantageLower effective rank cutoffAccess to all colleges across AP
University ZonesJNTUA / JNTUK / AU zonesAll AP — no zone restriction

Strategy Tip for Local Candidates

If you are a local candidate for JNTUA zone (e.g., studied in Kurnool, Nellore), add both local-quota and non-local-quota options for colleges in your zone. Your local rank will be lower (better) than your overall rank, giving you access to better colleges within your zone.

Rank-wise Web Options Strategy for AP EAMCET 2026

Rank RangeStrategyTarget Colleges
1 – 5,000Target top govt colleges first. Add aspirational NIT/IIT options via JoSAA if also JEE qualified.JNTUA CE, AU Engineering, RGUKT Basar/RK Valley
5,001 – 15,000Mix of good government and top private colleges. Prioritize branch over college.NIT Andhra (if applicable), VIT-AP, SRM-AP, KL University
15,001 – 40,000Focus on reputed private colleges (NBA/NAAC accredited). Core branches (CSE/ECE/EEE) first.GITAM, KL University, Vignan, Koneru Lakshmaiah
40,001 – 80,000Consider IT/ECE in good colleges over CSE in lower-ranked ones. Location matters.Private colleges in Guntur, Vijayawada, Tirupati
80,001+Any branch in accredited college. Placement track record over brand name.AICTE-approved colleges with good placement records

Save vs Lock – Critical Difference

Save (Temporary)

  • Choices saved on server
  • Can still add / remove / reorder
  • Can log out and come back
  • NOT final until locked

Lock (Final — Irreversible)

  • Choices are finalized
  • Cannot add / remove / edit
  • No reversal possible
  • Must lock before deadline
Important:Always lock your web options before the deadline. If the deadline passes with only "saved" options (not locked), the system behavior can vary — it may consider saved options as final or discard them. Do not risk it — lock on time.

Top 8 Tips for AP EAMCET 2026 Web Options

1

Fill at least 40–60 web options. More options = more safety. There is no penalty for adding too many.

2

Put aspirational choices (slightly above your expected rank) at positions 1–5.

3

Understand local area reservation — as a local candidate, you compete in a smaller pool for 70% of seats.

4

Research college NAAC/NBA accreditation, placement records, and infrastructure before adding.

5

Use the AP EAMCET College Predictor to estimate your chance at specific colleges before locking.

6

Do not pick branch over all else — a CSE seat at a college with no placements is worse than IT at a reputed one.

7

Check fee reimbursement eligibility (income certificate) if applicable — it can make private colleges affordable.

8

Lock your web options at least 6–12 hours before the deadline to avoid technical issues.

Frequently Asked Questions – AP EAMCET 2026 Web Options

Common questions about AP EAMCET web options (choice filling) process

1
What are 'web options' in AP EAMCET counselling?
In AP EAMCET (APEAPCET) counselling, choice filling is called 'exercising web options'. Candidates log in to cets.apsche.ap.gov.in and select their preferred college-branch combinations in order of priority. The system allots a seat based on your rank, web options priority, category, and local/non-local status. The term 'web options' is unique to AP counselling.
2
How many web options should I fill in AP EAMCET 2026 counselling?
There is no fixed minimum or maximum, but counsellors recommend filling at least 30–50 web options to improve your chances of getting a good allotment. You can add hundreds of options. More options means better chances. Always keep realistic options (matching your rank) and a few aspirational ones at the top. Never stop at just 5–10 options.
3
What is the difference between 'Save' and 'Lock' in AP EAMCET web options?
In AP EAMCET web options, 'Save' means your choices are saved temporarily — you can still edit, add, or remove options. 'Lock' means you have finalized your choices and they cannot be changed. Once you click Lock and confirm, no further edits are possible. Always review carefully before locking. If you miss the locking deadline, your saved options may be considered final by the system.
4
What is the local area (AU / JNTUA / JNTUK) reservation in AP EAMCET counselling?
In Andhra Pradesh, 70% of seats in each college are reserved for 'local candidates' of that region, and 30% are open to non-local (other region / all-AP) candidates. The state is divided into districts under JNTUA (Ananthapuramu), JNTUK (Kakinada), and AU (Visakhapatnam) university zones. A local candidate for a specific college is one who studied 4 years of Class 6–10 in that district/university zone. Choose the correct local area category during registration.
5
Can I change my web options after locking in AP EAMCET 2026?
No. Once you have locked your web options in AP EAMCET 2026, they cannot be changed. The system does not allow any modifications after locking. Only the saved (unlocked) options can be edited until the web options window closes. This is why it is critical to thoroughly review and finalize your college-branch priority list before clicking Lock.
