About NIT Arunachal Pradesh

National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh (NIT Arunachal Pradesh) was established in 2010 under the Eleventh Five Year Plan. Located in Jote, near Itanagar, the institute sits amidst the scenic landscapes of the eastern Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh.

NIT Arunachal Pradesh offers B.Tech in Computer Science, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. The institute is in a developmental phase, building permanent infrastructure and academic facilities. It follows the same curriculum standards, NIT Act provisions, and JoSAA admission process as all other NITs.

For JoSAA 2026, the Home State is Arunachal Pradesh. With one of the smallest populations in India (~1.5 million) and very few JEE qualifiers, the HS quota seats often go unfilled through early rounds. Other State candidates can benefit significantly from the relaxed OS cutoffs. JoSAA 2026 begins June 2, 2026.
